AMT 600 Brakes missing

Just bought my first Gator, an AMT 600. I notice there is a brake mecahism on the left handlebar with one cable coming out and heading aft twowards the one disk brake on the right side rear axle.
Stupid question time.
1-Is there supposed to be two brakes/calipers?
2-Are they hydraulic or mechanical (I assume some sort of combination)?
3-Where can I find a complete setup used?

There are supposed to be two, they are all mechanical and used ones are like hens teeth. 622 or 626 units will work, but you can't find them used either. I think Deere is getting 500.00 a side for new ones. ....
