Think I solved a problem the other day. The battery never to be fully charged. Put it on a trickle charger for a day and the pre-heat was quick. Run it for a few weeks and the pre-heat took longer. I did a standard clean the battery terminals and engine side of the ground cable. Guess I was in a burnishing mood so I took the feed line off the alternator. The terminal and screw were covered with factory paint (blue in this case). Now I've got 14.7V at the alternator and 14.7V at the battery. Wish I had done a before voltage measurement to see if I actually improved things. After the various comments regarding bolt grades and twisted PTO shafts, I'm going to add an annual maintenance routine. I'm going to grease the shear bolt collars and holes on all PTO shafts. The snow blower's shaft operates in highway salt slush and probably is at risk of seizing. The PTO shaft manual says a bunch about lubricating all sorts of parts, but not the collars or bolt holes. I never thought about it. This Board sure comes through with useful comments.
