Is there a cheaper way to install a remote valve for a implement then the $500 one offered by the dealer?

From the description, I guess the idea is to add a valve for a rear outlet, and the tractor may already have a loader.
$500 is similar to costs I've heard for adding a single valve as a fender mount to an existing system and I assume that a $500 job installed would use after-market rather than factory option parts. If you know a bit about hydraulics, a bit might be saved by having the dealer order the parts and installing them yourself. If it costs to get the tractor to the dealer, the savings may be greater.
A complete do-it-yourself job probably could be done cheaper from mail-order houses such as Northern Tool but most of the savings may due to ending up with a lower quality valve and spending a fair bit of time doing it yourself. . You'd have to know something about hydraulics and spend some time. Hoses probably still would have to be made up. Most any hydraulics shop should be able to do the job, but I wouldn't expect much lower estimates unless bargain basement parts are used.

I agree with what Tom says but would add that generally you will not save very much of the $500 on a job that is done will with high quality parts and it will generally not look as good as the factory kit. ....
