Kevin,A NC dealer told me that qualifying farms only pay an $80 tax instead of the state sales tax. When I told him I was not planning on farming he asked the size of my property. When I told him 35 acres, he said I qualified. I believe that implements are still subject to state sales tax. I suggest that you send mail to Steve Carver of Carver Equipment (carver@carverequipment.com). He is a Kubota dealer in Dunn NC that frequently posts to this board. Since my property is near the NC/Tenn border, I bought my tracter and implements in Tenn and did not have to pay any tax. I did not buy in Tenn to avoid the tax, it was just the most convenient place for me to purchace the tractor and delivering the tractor out of Tenn meant that I did not have to pay Tenn tax. ....
