Hello folks. Hope the New Year brings all Good Tidings. One of my resolutions for this year is to think a liitle more about safety. Ready, here goes. My 1986 1310, which I've mentioned in previous postings does not, nor does it look like it ever did have ROPS. This has caused some tense moments both out in the yard and after I get in the house with my wife. I would like to put on a rollbar. Does anyone have any ideas? I just sent out some requests to salvage yards. Again any help is appreciated.

I could be wrong but I thought that all tractors sold new in N.A. since some in the '70's had to be ROPS equipped. I know that distinction isn't particular useful since the idea is just to get one irrespective of why there isn't one now.
ROPS for 1310's are still in the NH parts manuals. There is one assembly for pre-85 tractors and another for 85+ models. There are individual part numbers for the major components. The assembly for a 85+ model is identified as {9610919}. That isn't an actual part number, but there's a reference note that says 'Order Wholegoods.' I imagine that means something to a parts guy. The assembly comes with a seat belt, which is part of all ROPS's. I've heard that it's safer to not have a ROPS than to have one but not use a seat belt.
If you can't find one in a salvage yard, I think I'd buy a new one than try to adapt something. From a story I heard that happened to a Kubota, it's possible to crack an axle housing by inappropriate tightening of even a factory ROPS.

I put a ROPS on my 1984 JD 950 about 3 years ago. Got it from JD. There was supposedly a program for dealers of all makes to sell ROPS at cost to try to get all tractors up to safety standards. Don't know if that is still true or not. Check with your dealer. Still, it cost me about $300 if I remember correctly (CRS you know). But it was the correct one to provide required safety. Don't try to force fit something that won't really do the job. ....
