Had to replace the shear pin (!) on my grass catcher today. Didn't hit any thing (that I know of), just vacuming up leaves.

The pin is on the rear u-joint yolk where it attaches to the 1st gear box. (See pic link, cover is on the left end of the drive shaft.) Remove a small cover and line everything up and drive out the borken one. The manual calls for a 1/4-20 X 1-1/2 screw with a nut on it for a shear pin. That lasted for the first start-up and it broke too. Wound up having to go the the New Holland Dealer (gasp!) to find a 1/4 x 1-1/2 pin with a spline in the middle of it to drive into the hole. I think that is what was there to begin with and it worked fine for the rest of the day.

Anyone with one of these Grass Catchers ever broken the pin before? Is this the correct type of pin for this application, or should I do something differant?
