Hydraulic leaks

What is the best thing to use on pipe threads on hydraulic fittings? I put a Bush Hog M246 loader on my Kubota L2500. It has pipe threads between joystick and quick disconnect hoses for loader and pipe threads on loader side of hoses. I've tried teflon tape, that leaked. Then I tried teflon paste. It leaked even worst. Any help would be much appreciated.

Something's wrong with the threads dude. If teflon tape leaks, it ain't the tape that leaks. One of your steel connectors has messed up threads. ....

I prefer the liquid although I'm sure exactly why, but I agree with Morgan. New fittings probably are needed if it still leaks--assuming the tape and paste liquid were used on reasonably clean threads.

You might be aware that hydraulic fittings are a real hodge-podge. There are quite a few standards in use, and some fittings don't use tapered pipe threads at all. I'd try to take as many old parts as possible along to the hydraulic shop if looking for new fittings. I'm never really happy unless I can see an entire assembly screwed loosely together before I go out of the store. It's a fair drive back to the nearest place large enough to carry hydraulic parts if something won’t work. Unless it's factory hydraulics, a hydraulics supply store would have a greater range of fittings than mand dealers.
