My dad has a 2001 DK45 that is a great tractor but it has always been difficult to engage / disengage from 4 wheel drive. It is typically much more difficult to disengage the front end once it has been engaged. I just wanted to see if anyone on the board has had experience with this problem and, if so, how it was resolved? I used the tractor this weekend and I gave up on trying to unlock the front differential. I have a Kubota L3430 and locking / unlocking the front end on it is a piece of cake. Any input would be appreciated.

Try spraying some penetrating oil on the linkage where it goes into the transmission case.
I occasionally spray the linkage on my 2001 DK 35. I also engage/disengage my 4 wheel drive while moving, and it goes in and out of gear very easy.
