I have a Kioti 3054. Today while bushhogging, the left front whell came off. It broke along the rim where the bolts are attached. What caused this? I have a front end loader and have used the tractor a fair amount. The tractor is 6 years old.
It also looks like the bar that runs under the tractor that connects the tires is slightly bent and so is the link that turns the tractor (this runs paralell to the tractor).
Could the drive assembly have seized up and not allowed the wheel to turn? Do I just replce the tire or take it to dealer?

Some questions:
-Is the rim factory equipment?
-Is the rim turned around making it stick out farther?
-From looking at the Kioti web sites it looks to me that the area of the rim where you say it broke is somewhat flat--correct?
-Do you do a lot of loader work that requires you to drive over large obstacles when fully loaded?
-Do you make a lot of turns when fully loaded--especially when not moving? (shouldn't matter, but I'm curious)
-Have you looked at the bearings of the failed wheel for play or damage?
-Does the tire itself show abnormal wear?
-Have one or several wheel lugs/nuts come loose before the failure?
-And the biggie: has a neighbor or brother-in-law ever borrowed it? ....

Earthwrks - Thanks for the reply. The rim is factory and was turned to the inside (narrow width) and is flat. In talking to other tractor owners and you, I believe that the combination of excessive loader work combined with turns, dips, and improper torque on the lug nuts, I may have overstressed the rim. I plan to recheck all the lugs and their torque to ensure proper hold. The dealer has ordered a new rim, so I'll should be back in action later this week. My wife has me digging a 20 x 40 pond and wev've used the 3054 to lift everything from boulders to garde teh front yard. I just need to remember to love on the machine at the end of the day. Take care. ....

What doesn't sound right is that only one wheel broke. And you shouldn't be able to exceed the design limits of the machine if the loader relief valve hasn't been tinkered with. From my experience (and I don't baby my equipment) a spindle, bearings, or something else will give out before a wheel will---or even a tire! (just think of the abuse a wheel on a car gets just in everyday driving----pot holes, curbs, etc.). My guess it was a bad wheel from the start. ....

Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree with you that either the wheel had some issue from teh start or it has just had some hard days. I bought the tractor from a family member that ran a tree farm. He took care of the equipment, but was not afraid to take it to and past its limits on occassion. The real test will be to replace teh wheel and run it. I'm just glad I wasn't on a slope when it happened. Thanks again. ....

I have just read your note on broken rim. I have also experienced the same problem at 900 hours 2 years ago. The rim broke on the right wheel, oil filter side. I too have a loader. Upon inspection I found that the lugnuts had worked loose on both rims. ....

I agree with what you found. There seemed to be a slight amount of play when I removed what was left of the rim. It looked like two of the nuts got loose and allowed some play.
The vibration and excess torque on the front finished it off. I replaced it with a factory rim. I ddi not check to see if Tractor Supply or some one else could have carried a "stock" wheel.
We are building a small pond (20 x40) for water plants. We plan on moving rock (rather larger) to line border. As soon as that project is complete, theloader comes off.
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. ....

I have owned my Kioti 3054 for almost 10 years. So far I have experienced a broken rim, broken loader sub-mount, leaking FWD and now recently a failing waterpump. I bought the machine used with 700 hours I now have 1425 hours on it today. It has been a workhorse but it has it limitations. Its glass jaw is its clutch it won't take any work in high range when using the loader you have to be in low range or else.
I wouldn't hesitate too buy another Kioti it has been tough tractor. ....
