At what temperature can I expect premium low sulfur #2 diesel fuel to gel? usually in the cold of winter, the "winterized" local diesel fuels are a blend of #1 and #2 I am told. Is it a good idea to add an anti-gelling agent such as Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement to my diesel fuel or is there a better fuel supplement? My tractor stays in a heated garage until it is used, so I am concerned with the fuel gelling after I take it outside to blade snow from my driveway and road, and the driveways of friends a couple of miles away.

Mike,Diesel gells at the same temp as before they removed the sulfer. It is ALWAYS a good idea to use a fuel supplement in your system, but as to the gelling of your fuel, it will depend on the tractor, gallons held (larger volume, longer to cool), routing of fuel line and the like. I have a 93 Ford F250 and have used several diesel suppliments. I recently purchased a New Holland and use the regular D2 fuel from the local station. Haven't had a problem with either and we sometimes have -30F here. The truck is not garaged either. Actual temps of gelling will depend on the mix used by the station. My tractor recomends D1 below I think 20F. Since it was in a garage too, I just kept using D2 without problem. Outside for a couple of hours at a time.I would stay away from any suppliment which contains alchohol. PFFP is another good one. Used yours too and it is good. Amsoil makes a good one too.How cold do you get where you are?Hope this helps some! ....

I live up here in nothern Vermont where it is not uncommon for the temparature to dip to -40f. I have had "winter diesel" gel @ 0 degr.f. We donot trust it.Most of us cut our off road fuel w/kerosene 30-50%. this prevents gelling.In our trucks, A fuel conditioner is a must. These conditioners also help remove moisture caused by the temp. fluctuations day to nite. Jim ....
