I'm looking at a 1999 4300 with 239hrs. Can anyone tell me what the background on this tractor to see if it has had anything major wrong with it in the past.

Somebody might know specifically, but the tractor may be a model/year that received a redesigned front axle.
If so and you're thinking of buying it, it would be good to find out if the tractor has the new front axle and if not would it qualify for the factory upgrade. If not the tractor has a lower resale valve. From what I recall, the original axle was fine for everything but finish mowing where it caused more tuft damage than many owners could tolerate. Could be a bargain for somebody who didn't want to mow groomed lawns. ....

Tom, if the tractor had a belly mower on it they changed the axles. If they were not equipped as such there are still many of them out there that still have the old axles under them. We have seen several trade-ins from this fall out with the landscapers who don't mow with them but do yard work. ....

This tractor does have a belly mower on it and dual mid scv. It also has R4 tires on it also. ....
