I changed my oil and filter on my John Deere 790 today .and noticed the factory filter had an antidrain valve in it to keep the oil from draining back to the crank case. I looked at the new JD filter and it didnot have this feature. I called my dealer and asked him about this and gave him the filter # and he said the new filter was correct for my tractor but may also be made for other aplications. Have any of you noitice this feature on any of your 790,990, 4000 series tractors? I think its a good idea I don't no why they don't make there replacements that way to.

Most manufacturer's offer both a economy and a good filter. Many might only use the low priced one to stay priced right with the econo-box stores. The anti-drain back is a good feature for prolonging the life of your tractor. You might find the start of a engine to do more damage than to run the engine properly for 100 hours. ....
