I am interested in a loader for my JD 955. I have heard that the GB 220 is better than the JD loader and it costs about $500 less. Can anyone shed some light on this subject as I want to get the most lift capacity and performance for my machine. Also, I would really like to find a used loader if that's even possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

GB vs JD? I know its a large decision and you want to get it right, but I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it. Both brands are just fine and you won't have problems with either. I'll bet you their performance is too close to one another to tell any difference. And I'll bet that nobody here knows if one is more or less powerful than another.....or if the little bit of power is more or less useful than the common things that power is traded for: reach, lift height, and speed.
Comparing the loaders through the literature is even less enlightening. Although there are standard tests for loader performance, the companies are not under any obligation to use those tests. Go back on this tractor board and you will see that we have discussed the difficulty in comparing apples to apples in loader performance. ....
