I can no longer put my tractor in four wheel drive. There is no tension on the handle at all. Something had to break or come loose on the inside. Yes this is vague.....I'm just a woman. : ) Any suggestions as to where I might get a repair manual for a 650 JD? Thanks to all!!

Marci, the JD dealer has parts books and a technical service manual for the 650. You have to order them and they take about 3 weeks to show up. Expensive, but worth it if youlike to do your own work. In this case I'll bet that it is just the pesky press-fit pin that is supposed to keep the 4wd handle rigidly attached to the shaft that it turns. If you follow the handle down to where it wraps around a shaft I'll bet you either see a loose 1/8" diam. pin or a hole where it used to live. Those darn friction pins are always working loose. The fix is to(lightly) hammer it back home and maybe with some locktite to help it hold. Eventually the pin ought to get replaced with a threaded and tapered pin...although a plain old bent nail will serve the purpose till you get a chance to get the job done right. ....

Marci. You can also order most JD manuals direct from JD. All you need is model and serial # when you call. They will ship them right to your home. The number I have to order manuals is: 1-800-522-7448. Good Luck. ....
