Does anyone know if JohnDeere is phasing out the 70 series compact tractorswith 4000 series recently introduced? If so how long will the 70 series be avail-able.

I think?? the 70 series got phased out a while back and replaced by the 4000 series. I know there is none available. I tried to buy a new 870 and was told "No more" and found a used low-hour one--last Summer of 98. ....

I,m not sure of the dealers name (I'll try to find out)in Ashville NC. but they have several870's and 970's new in stock. Might try the JD web page for dealer locations. I was told there are three JD dealers in Ashville NC.,this dealer also sells Massey's. ....

The 4000 series has replaced the 55 series: 855, 955 and so on. The 70 series which replaced the 50 series, is now being replaced by the 90 series. Brent ....

My dealer told me that the 4000 series was replacing both the 55 and 70 series.When this was announced there was and still is considerable demand for the 770model. So in response to the public demand, Deere turned the 770 into a 790,with a few enhancements and a couple horsepower. To my knowledge this will be theonly 90 series released. ....
