I have the possibility to buy this JD4200. What do you guys think? Good deal?JD 4100 HST, 70 Hours, 4X4, DSCV, 72" Deck, Turfs, 59" Front Mount (new) snow blower, 420 (new) loader with 60" Bucket. He wants $18,000 delivered to my door. No sales tax. Could I find a better deal if I shop around or is this good? Your opinions PLEASE!!!

John, if that setup were new it would run about $24-27K in my area. Since the tractor only has 70 hours and some of the implements are new, I think $18K is a great deal. If it from a dealer then find out how much warranty is left on the machine or what he will give. ....

John, last summer I bought a new 4200 4X4 with industrial tires, SyncShift Tranny, 5ft belly mower, 420 loader w/61" bucket and 3rd SCV for $18,000 not including tax. Hope this isn't too late to help you. I'd say you'd be getting a pretty good deal with the blower and bigger deck.

Check out the front axle; one cylinder with a ram sticking sticking out both ends is the original axle that tore the turf up. The new and replacement axle has a one ram cylinder to the right wheel with a tie rod going to the other wheel. ....

Dogman, Is that new? Where did you get it from? I'm starting to realize Eastern Pennslyvania may not be the best place to buy a new tractor.
RCH, I know what you're talking about with the front axle problem, but what does the "ram" look like? ....

The ram is the rod that hydraulic fluid pushes or pulls on that comes out of a hydraulic cylinder. Until recently they were shiney chrome-like. There is a new "nitrile" steel that is a gray color on some new machines. Of course it's smooth and shiney or the seal would get tore-up. On the defective front axles, the ram goes through the hydraulic and when one side is extending the other end is retracting since it's the same ram. ....

Yes, good deal BUT! be sure to check that it either has the new axle or get it in writing that the dealer will replace it for free. JD has a program going for this. Look in the archives for all the messages. Some of the guys posted links to pictures showing the new and old axles as I recall. ....

Well everyone...........I bought the unit! It will be delivered to my home this Tuesday! I can hardly wait. Total delivered price is $18,500. It has factory warranty until June 1, 2001. It is a 4200 with turfs, NEW 420 Loader and NEW 59" Snowblower (JD), and 60" mid mount mower. I also had them install a rear hydralic setup for attachments (for free of course). And guess what else...... I was wrong on the hours! It only has 48! I also ordered a JoDale Perry cab for it from Canada. That should be here in about 2 weeks. Have any of your 4200 owners had trouble getting that front axle ram work done under your warrenty? Thanks for all your help!! ....
