 NT304C Won't crank

We have a NT304C. Sometimes when we turn the ignition switch we only hear a click and the starter doesn't turn. After several times the starter may turn the engine over. Any suggestions?

Clean both ends of both battery cables, with particular emphasis on the tractor end of the ground cable. The Chinese bolt it right over a thick coat of paint. I advise owners to grind the connection point right down to bare metal, reconnect, then slow down the inevitable rust with a silicone dielectric that will skin over.

While you have the cables off, probably wouldn't hurt to load test the battery too.

 NT304C Won't crank

I noticed with my tractor, that when you depress the clutch it makes contact with a switch that is located below the clutch pedal. This switch is wired in line or in series with the key switch and starter solenoid, (one side is low voltage which controls the other side which is high voltage contactor). When checking the solenoid your checking for starter voltage, however the trouble could also be in cranking voltage (battery could be weak, starter winding is worn out or the solenoid component is clicking however will not engage the starter. When checking the wiring system you could do voltage drops across the switches or just jump the clutch switch out to see if it is working correctly. This switch is used as a safety measure. This switch sometimes needs to be adjusted to the point where you completely depress the clutch it will closed. Mine was barely making contact. Sometimes it would crank and sometimes it will just click. The best way to adjust it is have someone sit on the tractor with the key switch on and the pedal depressed slide the clutch switch up a little bit pass the point where it made contact this will insure that it makes full contact. If all these switches work, yet the started will not crank the tractor. I would get some jumper cables and connect the hot wire directly to the low side of the solenoid first this will by pass the whole wiring diagram. This will engage the starter. If this doesn't crank the engine. Try jumping the high voltage side. If it doesn't crank the engine, either your battery is to weak, or bad starter. Always use safety measures when using electrical current. Batteries used in a careless manner could cause burns and blow up the battery. I hope this helps.
