 3 pt hydraulic not functioning

I have a mitsubishi D1650. I had it out a couple weeks ago and everything seemed to be working fine. I have a box scraper on the 3 pt hitch. When I put the tractor back in my garage and lowered the box scraper, I tried raising it again and it would not raise. I can move the hydraulic control lever all the way forward and back and nothing happens. Why would the hydraulic 3 pt not function after just working fine?

Check the 3pth speed control, usually a knob under the seat that turns. If it gets turned all the way in it shuts the flow off completely.

If that's not the case then check that the lever hasn't come loose and that the control arm is actually turning the part that goes through the differential/transmission housing.

Best of luck.

The speed control and the lever both seem to be operating ok. I moved the lever under the seat and tried various positions and the 3pt still wouldn't raise. I then checked and found the fluid level for the transmission was about empty. There isn't a dip stick...so I guess it's just a visual inspection to determine the correct level. My manual mentioned the hydraulic fluid and trans fluid are the same (?) So I'm thinking if I add fluid the 3pt may start to work again (hopefully). What type of fluid should I use?

That same manual should specify what type of fluid to use, but generally speaking any universal TDH (meaning transmission / differential / hydraulic) fluid will do the job. It should be available at any farm supply, tractor dealer or even a good hardware store.

Best of luck.
