Please help!, I have a MF 50. While cutting brush, I got a small branch caught above the blades of my brush hog. Pulled it out and after that, I couldn't get the PTO back in gear. It would grind but not go into gear.(engine running or not).. I took the brush hog off and it worked fine....PTO engaged, etc.. Put the brush hog back on and same thing. It made grinding sound and wouldn't go into gear.

When the brush hog is disconnected from the PTO can you rotate the brush hog drive shaft by hand and does the brush hog blade rotate? ....

Yes, Blade and driveshaft spin freely. And brush hog works fine on other tractor...Do you think I need a new clutch.? ....

Sounds like you may have done some damage to the PTO clutch pack as you say. With 20 20 hindsight they do make some safety PTO clutch add ons that can prevent Clutch Pack damage when you snagg something like you did. ....
