I have a 16" bucket on my 46 backhoe and need to trench in some 4" drain pipe. What is the smallest bucket made for the 46 and does anyone know what they sell for or if I could find a used one? Thanks so much !!

9 inch is the smallest. If Deere no longer stocks them (the web site says they are obsolete) you can buy them from any Ameriquip dealer.

They go for about $275-300 new and are interchangeable with the 47 hoe.

Awesome !

I will ask around, I have 3 JD dealers within about 30 minutes drive. I tried to search on Ameriquip and got very little back. Thanks for the help. This forum is really very helpful, since I have a tractor now I'll spend lots of time here :) ....

I'm guessing on the dimensions a bit here, but I think the buckets for my #48 hoe are 12 inch and 24 inch. I bought the 12 inch for frost work but so far haven't needed to use it. I've been wondering if Deere or someone else makes a frost hook to fit the #48. Thanks. Frank. ....

A frost hook? Do I need to check my ankle for fingerprints?

As you have noted the #48 and bigger units use a different series of buckets. ....

These backhoes are sold under several names.

Out west, Gearmore has their brand on them.

If you check the Great Bend web site you will find your #46 B/H (without the sub-frame) listed as #651.

You will also find 25 dealers in the Pennciltucky area.

BTW Northern tool sells a version of the GB 651.... but I think it only comes with a 13" bucket. ....

Just checking around a 9" bucket is available at 275.00. Do you think there is a better deal to be had? This was a local dealer so there is no shipping.

Unrelated, do you have any idea what a new 410 loader cost retail? It was on my machine when I bought it but I am trying to make up a file with all the parts and I can't seem to find a breakdown. They are not shown on the JD web site for some reason with a price. ....

Frank, I don't know about widely distributed manufacturers, but the people that fabricate all our loader, hoe, & etc., buckets made us a frost pick for both our mini-ex and our TLB. They are just shaped plate with a single tooth on the tip and hard-facing on the lead edge for wear prevention.

BTW, does a frost pick ever make short work of tree roots and rocks.

Best of luck. ....

$275 is not bad for a new 9" bucket. As far as 410 loader cost, no idea what MSRP is but here's a site that sells them for $2240 which is probably less than retail. ....

Murf; thanks for the info on the frost hook. I looked the small bucket over today and looks like it would'nt be a real big job to fabricate a hook. Thanks. Frank. ....
