I AM LOOKING AT A 91 JOHN DEERE MODEL 1070 , DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES THEY HAVE.
MY PLAN IS TO USE IT FOR BUSH HOG , AND TILLING , IT HAS NO LOADER I HAVE A JD LOADER/BACKHOE , SO I DON'T NEED ONE. ANY COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT TO LOOK FOR WOULD BE HELPFUL

The 1070 is a great tractor. No real problem areas. Biggest thing I can think of is the expense of the clutch. Be sure to check clutch operation. You should feel two distinct stages when pushing in the clutch. The pto should engage smoothly without grinding when you push the clutch all the way down. Other than that, just make sure all gears work, all fluids look good and engine should start quickly and easily without excess smoke. ....
