I would love to talk w/someone that really knows this model. Any problems you have had with the clutch and replacement cost. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!

The clutches on the 50 and 70 series JD compacts are usually pretty durable if not abused. Unfortunately, if replacement becomes neccesary, the prices are pretty stiff. The parts are the worst part, with a complete clutch assembly costing around $1600-1800. Usually we find that the original clutch can be disassembled and rebuilt for around $1100 in parts. Typically the pto disk and plates are OK. Labor and hauling can add considerably to these costs. ....

Thanks jdgreen: Looking at a 1992 JD 870 1534 hrs w/45 front loader,72" mid mount mower.Asking 12500 or will replace clutch for 13900. Any ideas on value of these 3 jd items. ....

That price seem a little high. I got a 1070 last year with 1500hrs and a new clutch for $12,000. I had seen other 1070's in the Portland OR area for about that price also. ....

i currently have a very nice 970 4wd 780 hours with a 440 loader 73" bucket excelent cond. no dents or scratches rear lights, radio, syncro shift.
will take around $12,800 new front tires turf, rears 70%
