 John Deere 870 clutch

The clutches on the 50 and 70 series JD compacts are usually pretty durable if not abused. Unfortunately, if replacement becomes neccesary, the prices are pretty stiff. The parts are the worst part, with a complete clutch assembly costing around $1600-1800. Usually we find that the original clutch can be disassembled and rebuilt for around $1100 in parts. Typically the pto disk and plates are OK. Labor and hauling can add considerably to these costs.

That price seem a little high. I got a 1070 last year with 1500hrs and a new clutch for $12,000. I had seen other 1070's in the Portland OR area for about that price also.
