2010 - Fix it or scrap it?

My 2010 RU tractor's hydraulic pump failed. On disassembly, most of the functional parts are damaged. My local dealer is still looking for some of the parts, and if found, the rebuild will cost close to $2000. I bought this tractor last Fall and paid a fair price for it, but it's too late to go back to that dealer for recomp. I'm only farming 15 acres of grass hay, so there's no justification for spending any amount of money.

Should I throw another $2000 at it because it's cheaper than scrapping and buying another? Should I begin canvassing the country looking for a wrecking yard and try to buy a used one? Draper Tractor had located one but on inspection, it was worse than mine. All advice is appreciated.

Does your 2010 have manual or power steering?

Power Steering, Front Loader and Rear Hydraulics connectors. The motor runs pretty good, I think an ignition tune-up would fix the occassional miss. Rubber is still good. I've had it connected to a 3 point tiller, mower deck, NH 469 Haybine and used the bucket on numerous occassions. I am satisfied with the unit as far as size, HP, bucket, controls ...

The pump assy. lists for $440 on the JD parts website BUT........ both the manual steering and power steering type tractor hyd. pump are listed as obsolete parts. This means that Deere no longer has them in production BUT....... a Deere dealer may have the pump on the shelf somewhere in the USA. (my thoughts are this is unlikely at best, but you can have you Deere dealer attempt to search for the part nation wide) Have you considered taking the pump to a hydraulics shop and requesting them to evaluate and if possible rebuild and repair it?

The other option that might work is to have a hydraulics shop mount a belt-driven pump on the front of the motor.

As long as they can get to the plumbing, and with remotes, etc., it sounds like there must be easy access, it shouldn't be too complicated (read expensive) to do.

Best of luck.

Update: I got the pump back and found the internal scoring was really not that bad. I then talked to my local JD dealer and found that the bushings were no longer available, which have to be replaced to prevent further wear. Took it to a machine shop and he thinks he'll be able to find/make something to work.
