 Belarus 805 PTO RPM Question

I've read that the optimal RPM for the PTO is 540. When I engage the PTO and check the tachometer, it is only reving at 490 - 500 rpm.
I'm assuming this explains why my snowblower is not ejecting snow very well.

What must be done to improve the rpm to the PTO

Thanks

John

BTW...the throttle is fully engaged

The PTO has its own tach? What does the engine tach indicate at full throttle? Is there only the one PTO speed?

 Belarus 805 PTO RPM Question

Sorry for the confusion.... When I referred to the tach I meant the tach (only one) on the dash. At full throttle (hand throttle) the RPM is as noted previously.

 Belarus 805 PTO RPM Question

Is a redline (max recommended) indicated on your engine tach? It would be near the upper peg and probably above 2000 RPMs. Typical setups give a 540 PTO when the engine is turning around 90% of redline.

The engine's just idling should be around 700, which makes me wonder if the tach is accurate. If it is, check the throttle system; if no problem, check fuel delivery.

Sorry I can't be more specific but I've not seen a Belarus.

 Belarus 805 PTO RPM Question

I think the Belarus runs a double needle tach, sort of like a compass needle, the one side points to engine RPM, the other side to PTO RPM.

If the engine isn't running up to full PTO speed I would look first to the linkage and see if there's an adjustment, lot's of machines have a WOT (wide open throttle) stop screw that can be adjusted to limit how high you can set the throttle before it hits the stopper.

As for your blower, 40 or 50 RPM wouldn't make any kind of noticeable difference in the way it blows snow. More likely the impeller is worn or the impeller housing is badly dented from stones and debris, the increased clearance means it's not able to eject the snow very well.

Sometimes heavy rubber strips bolted to the outside edges of the impeller blades (like squeegies) to wipe the impeller housing clean will dramatically improve blower performance.

Best of luck.
