I sold my 650 4x4 about six months ago. It had
a dozer blade and 60in belly mower. I got $5,000
for it with 2500 hours. Tough and dependable machine,
no problems that I can recall.

I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble with your Kubota. I hopd it's repaired soon. It really sounds like a dealer problem to me. The dealer is responsible for thoroughly checking your machine for loose fastners and missing parts before delivery. Also, the dealer is the one that installed your loader (in most cases). They are the ones that forgot your cotter pins and bushings. I would try to find out who the regional rep is for Kubota in your area. I'll guess that they've had trouble with this dealer before. I had a mower deck that would clog up something awful. I could only cut about half an acre or so before it clogged up. Turned out that the front of the deck was higher than the back. I adjusted the deck per the owners manual with .25 inch lower in the front. No more clogging problems after that.

Hey Tom, I see what you mean. I wonder if all drive heads are similiar. The drive head on my 650 was a right angle drive. The flat piece of cable went into a gear that turned another gear that was 90 degrees to the first. The second gear had a small shaft that went into the block just below the water pump. It's possible that this small shaft could break off and fall in the engine, but the gear it was pressed on was too big to fit in the hole. Just my random thoughts and observations.<br>

790 with 4x4, ag tires, and loader goes for $13,999 at two dealers near me in Michigan. Add about $400 for turfs or R4 tires.

An additional $1,000 for a backblade and a scoop?

I know delivery is in there too, but these items new cost about $200 for a blade and $250 for a scoop. Quite a delivery charge.

I recently sold my JD 650 mfwd. Mine was in rough condition with 2500 hrs. I got $5,000 with no loader.

I agree that it is a quality made, tough machine, but I will make one comment. I used a 6ft landscape rake to do some landscaping and it definately did not have enough power for this task. If you plan to do any disking or boxblading or raking, I would suggest you get 5ft wide implements at the biggest. My 650 really strained with 6ft wide implements.

MrDoom, I have been thinking about your comments. They do seem to make sense, but the fact remains that the front tires seem to not flatten out so much anymore. ???<br>

Here is something I have been thinking about. Consider a tractor with un-loaded rear tires and a loader. Fill the loader bucket with a heavy load. Now raise the bucket untill the rear tires leave the ground. In this scenario, all of the weight of the tractor is now on the front tires. Slowly add fluid weight to the rear tires and some of the weight will begin to transfer to the rear. When the rear tires touch the ground, you will then begin to take weight off the front end. According to your description, you will reach a point where no additional weight (fluid) will produce any more changes in weight distribution on the front.<br>

Your clutch has a semi-metallic lining and it is common for them to fuse or rust together when sitting for long periods. Check your owners manual for the clutch 'blocking' procedure under 'extended storage'.

I have heard from others that they were able to loosen the stuck clutch by driving the tractor around and putting a load on the clutch. Of course this means you must bypass some safety switches to start the machine in gear or start it in neutral and try to shift into gear without the clutch. Both have their risks. Hopefully someone else will have a better suggestion.

I paid $15,100 for my TC30 HST, 7308 loader, HD bucket, Turf tires, 4x4. I would check and see if a folding rops could be ordered as an accessory. If not, a bit of fabricating and welding could duplicate a folding rops as seen on the deluxe models. Could be a pricy venture though, if you don't have a welder.

Went shopping for, of all things, shade trees yesterday. It was 95 degrees F. I thought I was tougher than the heat. I carried 3 trees up from the yard to the retail counter. Each one weighed about 75 lbs. By the time I got there with the third one I had to sit down to rest, then I needed to lay down to keep from falling down. Fortunately, some kind workers recognized the problem and got me some water. It just kind of sneaks up on you.

I think the point of the original post was about the Galaxy turf tire offered by John Deere. This is an oversized balloon type turf tire specifically designed for golf course and other delicate turf conditions. This tire has a very smooth tread with lots of surface area for high flotation.

Rex, I recently sold my mid eighties JD650. The 650 is the baby brother to your tractor. I was thinking about adding the power steering kit plus a loader to mine. Found out that the power steering kit cost $1100, the control valve for the loader with 'power beyond kit' cost $700, and the loader (JD#70) cost $3500. Total cost $5,300 plus tax. I sold my tractor for $5,000 and put the money towards a new one. I did not want to invest five grand in an old machine. You could probably sell yours and add the money you would spend on the upgrades and be able to just about pay the entire cost of a new one. For example, A Kubota in the 20 to 24 hp range with 4X4. Hope this is of use.

I'm a bit baffled about the prices listed in this thread. I did'nt know that a landscape rake could cost so much. I have a six foot landscape rake with gauge wheels (King Cutter). I paid $450. I did price others as much as $500. 5 ft and 4ft models were also available. I am in south east Michigan.
