Well...after purchasing my 790 2 weeks ago....I have to say I am very happy with it so far.....ordered with 4WD..70 loader, PTO front and back...JD 60 inch mid mount mower... I have installed 2 extra work lights in the pre drilled holes on the rear fenders..lights things up real good back there now...oh yes also came with turf tires....which I am absolutely amazed on how this machine just marches thru 2 feet of snow......unreal....no rear ballast as yet either....put it into 4 WD..loader down...1 st gear low....had to use the diff. lock a few times..but this leads me to my question of how much extra traction I will obtain by throwing 3 or 400 pounds back there??? and one more qustion for anyone out there.......why is the bucket that comes with the 70 loader...painted black and not John Deere green..???? enquiring minds want to know.????hmm

Hi, I too have a jd970 with 7X16 field tires in the front and would like to go with a wider tire on the same rim. Of course I would also need to keep the front to back tire ratio in line while making the change to the wider track.
Bottom line is, what front field tire, if any, would give a wider tread while holding to the exact or close circumfence of the OEM 7X16????

Craig, I have a 7' snow blade that I got and setup for a JD1050. I traded a year ago for a 5310 and got a small mod on the JD bale spear frame to adapt it to the blade. The blade frame has a horizontal piece of angle iron to which 'tabs' with holes are welded on vertically at appropriate places to accomodate the bucket mounting pins. I had mine welded on so I can either center the blade or offset it to the right about 6 inches: | | | | | |. The holes in both sets of tabs line up. the right set are all the way to the right on the horizontal angle iron. With the 1050, the blade was a pain to mount and I only did it once as we had no snow. The frame on the bale spear is rectangular. The salesman and I came up with welding a 6" piece of 2X3 channel to the bottom of the frame with a hole near the top and spaced to match the tabs on the blade mounting. I remove the spear, connect the frame to the blade with 2 pins (each long enough to go thru all three tabs and lynch pin on each end). Then it is 30 seconds to connect to the 541 loader quick attach. I use a chain to a grabhook on the top of the frame to keep the blade mounting frame level at its working position. If you wish, I can get a pix this weekend. Hope this helps. E

I've got a series 35 Landpride rearblade with a rear gaugewheel and endplates. It rotates, tilts and offsets. A very handy item to have. A rearblade and a boxblade all in one. What works great on gravel drives is use one endplate and then the gravel will slope out gradually . So your not the only one with endplates.

I have a 950 JD w/75 loader and a 8A back hoe on it and the transmission case broke at the shifting plate. I beleave that the weight of the loader and back hoe pushing up where thay attach in the middle is what coused it to brake. I need to know if anyone else had this problem. if so how did you solve the problem.

i found this picture of a simple "self levelling" design on a grey market tractor. I've seen this basic design on other tractors as well, but with the cylinder placed further up on the boom. I wonder how well these work?

Since I am considering the purchase of a TC40D, I would appreciate hearing from any owners of TC35 through TC45's that have had warranty repairs and also how supportive NH has been with those warranty issues. I am also curious if it is possible to personally visit with the NH area rep whereas with JD, it is not possible to visit with the JD area rep. according to my dealer

Frank--you really don't have to heat the handle--I removed the black plastic or rubber grip and placed the handle in a large vise with padding on the vise jaws and used a cheater about 5 feet long and just increased the angle of the bend so the handle would clear the grill guard mount, and replaced the black plastic grip. This way it was not necessary to repaint it. The entire fix took just a few minutes.

I'm selling my 5ac country "escape hatch." Want to unload my '89Kub B7200 ( 925hrs) w/ Kub 1630 loader, 5' Bush Hog, Woods 5' finish mower, Yanmar 4' tiller. Also: Ops Manual, Illustrated Parts, & Workshop Manual. Not garage kept. Stuff works o.k. but not "pretty." This stuff is a little overkill for a townhouse. Any comments, please? I'd like to get a fair price, don't want to shaft anybody but don't want to get shafted either. I seem to be a bit better at buying than selling, sez my wife.Karl

The manuals are available from your dealer, if he will not get them go somewhere else, unless you have a grey market tractor? The mower deck ---lift the deck to it's highest position and turn the knob down below the seat to the lock position and then put the deck lift control lever to down and the deck will drop to a locked position, the control lever should spring back to neutral. Lift the deck back up to relaease and turn knob back to a height setting for cutting Grease all points regularly is all I do, ck oil level in the gear box and change seasonaly or every 50 hours should be fine. Adjust the anti scalp wheels so that they have about 1/2 inch clearnace or so on level ground. The loader, grease after use and keep cylinder clean as possible. Welcome to the Kubota BX world, the finest mini tractor on the planet. I love mine and so do all my neigbors when they see it mow smoothly through high grasss that chokes their 25 horse Command Kohler garden tractors to a halt and does not rut up the yard like heavier full size compacts. I had a good friend who was getting out of the part-time farming business. When I was over there I looked at his Belarus with a view of moving up to a bigger tractor but he refused to even discuss selling it to me. He said he was really glad he didn't get rid of his old, old MF because he had trouble keeping the Belarus working and that it was a really hard machine to sit on all day because it was so rough to ride and operate. I didn't go into too many details but his general opinion of the Belarus was not good. I don't know if this second hand opinion will help much. They are a lot less expensive and if you don't stress them too much they will probably do the job but this may be one of those times that you do get what you pay for.

I use a Befco, 60", C50 series rear discharge mower and can't complain about its performance. I had a problem with it windrowing the grass cuttings when it got too wet or tall but I installed a mulching kit and that cured it. It did mean that I had to mow a little slower than I did before but not too much. On the whole, I've been happy with it but my experience with other makes and models is limited.

There might be a liability issue on those tractors as to why they don't offer them here. You should check Sims cabs as well as Laurin. Sims builds cabs like Curtis as well as some with rops built in for some tractors. Laurin builds rops replacement cabs and offer full featured cabs.
