I have a JD4200 with a 420 Loader and a 72" belly mower. The problem I have is that the front release arm for the belly mower is in conflict with the grill guard that was installed with the loader. The only way I could get the belly mower off was to either remove the grill guard or bend the lever so that it will clear the guard. Does anyone else have this setup? If so what did you do to remedy the problem? Or was my equipment installed incorrectly by the dealer?

I have the identical set-up, with turf tires, and I don't have any interference
at all. In fact, you need to use the loader to lift the front end of the tractor off the ground to get enough clearance to slide the mower out from underneath. Sounds like a set-up problem.

Lee--I have been there and done that is my 430 loader on my 4400 with the 60 inch belly mower. This is another example of JD engineers NOT testing adequately their products and relying on purchasers to do their field testing (end of personal rant). The solution is to remove the front part of the mower mount and bend the front release lever enough that it clears the side of the grill guard mount. When I approached my dealer about this, they replied that they could bend it or I could bend it, so I took care of it. As fixes go, this is a rather painless one. Mike S. ....

Lee (and anyone else that attempted to read my previous post)--sorry about the poor grammar at the beginning of my previous post--sometimes my computer has its own thoughts that it gets confused with mine. Mike S. ....

How odd. I have a 4300 with the 420 loader and 72" mid-mount and do not have any conflicts. Usually I take th eloader off when I put the mower on, but have had both on at once. I admit it is a pain to get at the front mount lever / knob, but otherwise it works. ....

I just love this board..everytime I think a problem is particular to my tractor, I find someone else with the same problem. I've got a 4200 hydro w/ 60" belly mower and grill guard (no loader yet) and turf tires. I've got the same problem and I'm going to heat the handle and bend out until I get the clearance I need. Frustrating sometimes isn't it? This is my first post and I want to thank everyone for the info ref scuffing and fogging instrument panel. I armed myself with downloaded copies of the posts and educated my dealer and his field rep and stood my ground. The field rep called me wanting the address to the CTB! Everything was fixed, including axle exchange, and I'm a happy camper thanks to you all. ....

Frank--you really don't have to heat the handle--I removed the black plastic or rubber grip and placed the handle in a large vise with padding on the vise jaws and used a cheater about 5 feet long and just increased the angle of the bend so the handle would clear the grill guard mount, and replaced the black plastic grip. This way it was not necessary to repaint it. The entire fix took just a few minutes. ....
