I currently have the R4's which are fine [needed to mow the lawn], until I go back in the wood and work on my paths up wet hills, or level for that matter. Check out Picture #11. This was with the FEL and Ballast Box.
I plan on using the tractor for collecting my maple sap in the spring. I can just imagine what trouble i'm going to run in to with the snow and mud.
Here's the questions:
Is there any problem/worry of changeing the tires for the winter spring to the R1's? Will I need chains? Can I go with just R1's in the back, or would it make more sence to go all around? Weights, should I? I'll have the FEL on.
Do you think I could find a set of used[good] R1's on rims, or buy new? Price? Trying to keep it down....

Your pic 10 reminds me of why I dumped my R4s. I don't mow so changing to turf/R4 tires in the spring and summer wasn't an issue for me.
Installing R1s on just the rear won't help you steer. There is also the issue of axle lead - the rear and front tires must be sized correctly and in proportion to each other to allow the MFWD to work properly without tearing up the driveline. So, if you're going to have a set of R1s I'd advise to get properly sized tires on all four corners.
I've found the R1s to work well in mud and up to two feet of snow without much trouble. Of course our soil is different and we probably don't get as much snow as you so YMMV. They sell chains for R1s so there must be a need for them somewhere.
Used ones? I dunno, you might get lucky and find some. My dealer traded me straight across for my R4s so I know some dealers may have used ones on hand.
Another less expensive option you might try is putting chains on your R4s. I haven't done that so others might chime in here. ....

I bought chains for my R-4's but haven't used them yet. I didn't need them last winter as the the B-7800 did just fine without them. In places, I was going through snow that was 2 foot deep I also had to cross the wet weather stream that runs through my property and didn't have a bit of problem. Most of this was done without any counter weight on the back, just the FEL on the front. I have found that with my R-4's as long as it isn't thick sticky mud they don't load up. But when you get into the clay like Ken has they load up in a hurry and unless you can find some thick grass to go through to unload them you have nice racing slicks!!!! ....

While R1s should work better in the snow/mud, if you need R4s for mowing, why not just get a set of chains for your R4s? Changing the tires over twice a year could be a hassle, unless you buy a complete set of tires and rims.

Raceing slicks is exactly what I have.
The Mud is really bad, I have a hard time just drive on the flat gound you see in pic #11.
Do I get chains for the rears or all 4?
How Much$$?

Your pic. # 11 looks a LOT like what I used to have at our deer camp.
Notice I said "used to have", I spent a few days in there with a small dozer and scraped all the topsoil (gumbo?) out of the way and laid down a few inches of pit run from an exposed riverbank deposit we have nearby.
Now you can drive anywhere on the property along the trails in just a golf cart.
