Review Commentary
I have had my 7800 for almost a year now and have put over 125 hours on it. No major complaints as of yet.
I have used the loader a lot and also use it to mow my grass weekly (60" mid mount mower). The mower is very easy to remove as well as the loader. If you choose to leave the mower on while using the loader or 3pt hitch implements, the mower fastens up high out of the way (although if doing a lot of work I recommend removing the deck). I mow about 4 acres a week and can mow twice without refueling.
The 4 cylinder is very quiet and powerful. The 7800 does have a form of cruise control and it can be fueled easily with a 5 gallon can that has a spout. And finally the headlights really don't matter that much when you have a loader on the front. The 1/4 inching valve takes a little getting used to but I like it a lot.
Last winter I kept my 200 foot drive and parking area clear of snow as well as two neighbors driveways. I bought the chains for it but never put them on last winter because I never needed them. Although we didn't get any major snowstorms, it went through those 12 inch snows like nothing.
Summary
The 7800 has done everything I have asked it to and more. It is a great no frills tractor. If you can live without a few creature comforts it is a great tractor. ....

Cons
The only issue I have with my machine is that the quarter-inching valve often sticks in a slow-drift-lower position- there's no positive detent at neutral. This can lead to moving more dirt than desired with a box blade, as it slowly drifts down unnoticed. That should be an easy fix with a little TLC. I'd also like it a lot if the parking brake would release with any application of forward or backward drive, but that's an operator-error issue.
Review Commentary
Ditto what kubotaguy said. I have 10 hours on mine, and just upgraded to the B2910's telescoping 3-pt stabilizers as suggested elsewhere on the site by beagle. Those represent a great improvement over the 7800's turnbuckle check-chain arrangement for quick implement changes.
I also have the 2910 headlight cluster to install, but have not done so yet, as the stub wiring harness at the back of the assembly will need to change as well and I didn't order it. This takes the headlight from the stock 18W taillight lamp to a 23W bayonet-base lamp, and provides a wider beam spread (from what I've seen in trying them on the B2910 at a dealer). I intend to try upgrading the lamps to 35W halogens (they use a standard taillight-style bayonet base) for winter plowing. They are wired with 16AWG and fused at 10A, so the ~6A draw of the halogens seems to be a reasonable thing to try.

Pros
- Great, dependable tractor with a good power/weight ratio.
Loader attachement/removal is quick and simple and can almost be done without leaving the operators seat.
Service is simple with good access to filters and fluids.
You get a good drivetrain at a reasonable price
Cons
- Would rather see a few of the "Premium" features put back into the tractor, such as the position control on the 3pt. This is probably the biggest disadvantage the 7800 has to the 2910. This alone cost the tractor my 1/2 point deduction.
The standard seat on the 7800 (2003 7800f model) isn't stiff enough to properly support your weight.
Having the brakes on the opposite side of the HST pedal would be an advantage for turning.
Review Commentary
I have had the tractor for about a year and it has done everything we have asked of it. I clear our 800' driveway and 1/4 mile of road in the winter with a hydraulic front blade, and it does an amazing job. The controls for the 3pt and the pto are easily reached from the seat and I find them very simple to use. Adding rear remotes was straight forward, even without the rear hydraulic block that is stabdard on the 2910. Except for the lack of position control on the 3pt., this tractor has everything you need to comfortably get your work done, and enjoy the seat time.
Summary
Great buy!!! We really enjoy our B7800.

Beagle - I am a b7800 owner and am interested in installing a rear hydraulic (aka auxiliary hydraulic). I read in your post that you completed this task and was wondering if you could send me a picture of how you mounted the controller and the actual outlets. I am confused as to which lines to use coming from the hyd system and am a novice with this type of thing.
Also, I agree w/you on the 3 point operation. That is the thing that would make grading very nice but oh well it is still a very capable machine. Had a question for you about toe-in. I have not adjusted mine (or measured exact amount) but at first glance it appears excessive. Do you know the difference between the front of the tires vs. the rear of the tires??? I will measure mine and get back to you.

See my pics no.s 2 and 4 for how I mounted the SCV. I picked the loader tower because it made the PB circuit easy to plumb from the FEL valve. I dont have a picture of the bracket for the remote plugs, but it bolts to the rear axle housing flange on the right side. Holes in the flange are pre-drilled.
There is an excellent diagram of a Power Beyond Circuit on the Prince Hydraulics website. Go to the SCV valves, you will find typical PB circuit diagrams.
If I did it over, I would mount the SCV higher on the loader tower. I kept it low to make use of the weep hole in the tower without welding to the tower. The extension handle was easy to fabricate, but having the valves higher would be more convenient. The lower control handle I operate with my right foot. Let me know if you need any more infor on the PB circuit. It's pretty straight forward. ....

Thanks for the info! Can you tell me what the "S" in SCV stands for? I'm assuming the CV stands for Control Valve. Also, isn't that valve mounted a little low to reach with your hands or is it just the angle of the picture that makes it look low. Also, where are you plumbing the lines from the tractor itself before it goes into the valve????? ....
