I've got a 1991 L2850 I bought new in 1991 ans it is still going strong with 1500 hours. I think your neighbor just likes to spend money unnecessarily.

Thanks, I think I will go to the hydraulic fluid used in the transmission. Seems to be what is used on everything that is newer tractors and I don't see how it could damage anything.
