I never have had a problem with hydraulic oil per low temperatures (0-10 degrees), with either my old 4300 or new 4310 tractor(s). I do not know if there is much different between my model vs. your. Also I have never had to use the glow plug system to start the engine. When extremely cold it will smoke a bit for the first 10 seconds or so. My tractor is barned an out of the actual weather. My old 8N however was a different story. I'd give that old thing a good 1/2-hour to warm the thicker oils it used. Perhaps the JDsynthetic oil makes a different? Mudder

Again, thank everyone for the insight. I went to the JD parts break down web site. I could see the casing /shaft/ o-ring of the assembly. This afternoon I removed the left wheel and kept spraying pen-oil while tapping the rocker linkage-arm back & forth. BINGO! it now works as it should. Upon reassembly, I realized the JD dealer never put the rims/wheels at wide stance. I have the 48 backhoe and within the owners manual it states to put the wheels in the wide position. This explains why it was "so-tight" placing the backhoe hold pins in position. The tire lug "gaps" needed to be just right to achieve the extra distance where pins inserted. By reversing the rear rims I have gained about 1" extention at each wheel. I believe I will space the front wheels. Mudder

Both my old 4300 & new 4310 hadhave the 430 loader. They both has a dumping problem. When moving the lever fully to the RHS dumping action occurs, then instantly stop while maintaining the lever fully. I now have 2 choice; (actually 3 if you count getting PO at the thing)1)either maintain then expecting it to resume after 5- 10 seconds 2) or release the lever, thus repush it again fully to the Right. Per my dealer & posted on the JD web site, JD designed it this way (what a crook) to relief pressure build up. This stopping action does not alway occur, but when it does I've not nothing nice to say. I have tried different engine RPMs & weigh loads to see if I could detect a pattern - nothing. When I get into a routine of scooping, shorttravel, then dump, I expect it to simply do as I command. Guess I live with it. Mudder

My 2002 4310 e-hydro did simular as yours. I accidently pressing the forward (or in vise versa order)petal, removed my foot instancely, then press the reverse petal, the tractor computer decided to go forward before reversing. This is a scary thought while I was dumping dirt at the edge a ravine-hill side. I planted both feet on both petals as soon as I relized I stepped on the forward petal. To date, the tractor will drift if ever stopped on a slope. My 2000HST model would also do the same as the 4310 model. JD Dealer replaced the computer to correct the 4310 problem. It was covered under warrenty. Mudder
