Its All New Cars ,10-15 years ago when all the locaal corner garages closed , and the govt began enforcing car standards , the stealerships knew they would have the consumer by the short hairs , There is very little profit on the current sale of a new car , and due to tech they know you are going to have to come in for service. Unless you have thousands of dollars in test equipment and tools. Thanks to engineering the known failure interval for most any part of Any newer car is a known scientific tested and designed fact , akin to a light bulb , 1200 hours or 5 years. Its a shame really , but thats how they now stay in business . They all are junk , especially automatic transmissions , the worst thing for overdrive is a hill or incline ,its the reverse leverage on the drivetrain , and every other part in the car is made as light as possible to get the maximum fuel mileage . Ut takes energy to move that mass of iron , they are built as light as possible , 1/3 the body is aluminum or alloys , 1/ is wiring sensors , computers , rubberhoses , plastics , some new tech cars weigh more than a car from 20 years ago thanks to electronics and anti smog equipment , and to reduce emissions they Run them Hotter than an older motor would tolerate , Not that the new ones sustain it any better or longer , but by then the warranty is over.

Ok looks like I am going to be needing Major help ,I have a 98' NH 1925 , was doing a basic pm , changed hydraulic fluid and filter , left old filter drain upside down in drain tray , as I was filling and bleeding system , after all running and seemingly operating as should (normally have No problems) I began clean up , removed filter from drain pan ,,, There it was ,12 to 20 , shreds of metal ,,,,smaller than a childs bb gun chips , these appear not as crumbled pieces , but more like broken teeth or hard rectangular , triangular , anything but round ....... AnY Body have any ideas where it would be coming from I do most all of my own wrench work , cars , boats , gearboxes , and most anything else , Hydrostatic is a bit new to me...... Is a pump on its way out ,would it pass metal shards all the way to the filter , , Is there a Hydro pump sump pickup , wouldnt it have a screen on it to preventing the metal chips from passing thru the hydraulic pump from the sump ? would these chips come from the output of the pump , then to the filter , before the rest of the system ????? Well Best regards all ,I am usually just a reader here , now its my turn hope and find someone that has run into this before ... Leo ........ps this is essentially an early tc 29/30 .

After a few years of mechanics ,( not always diesel ) I have seen crazy things happen with excess heat ,,, cracks appear in a variety of places , Between the valves as suggested , is usually a normal location ,But I have seen them in the Exhaust bowl as well ,The coolant wont appear in the oil or combustion chamber , but is just blown out with the exhaust , creating a haze or white in the exhaust smoke, best to do a radiator pressure test , Cold motor (test), then let motor warm a couple minutes ,,, With pressure relieved at radiator so as Not to have to relieve coolant pressure, Retest to see if heat has opened crack. It can take a few minutes to see if pressure holds. It should maintain.
