Thanks for the info. That is nice to know. When I got my tractor it had the Purolator on it, and was easy to go to Advance and get. If you would like to continue to have me as a contact send private message of your email address and we can trade some information. If you read the postings of this thread you will see that I have had an issue related to oil filters. Also have learned lots over the last 18 months about my tractor.

Take a look at this Farmi skidding winch. I just upgraded to a larger version and find it to be a very easy to use and safe product. (Just don't stand in the way of the cable it it snaps)

I vote for loading of your tires with Calcium. My last 3 tractors have been loaded ( a Ford 1710, Ford 2120 and a New Holland TNS75). I also have a ballast block of concrete which I never use. I also almost never use a tractor without a rear mounted attachment and I always keep my bucket low ready to drop. Going up and down hills is always done at 90 degrees unless it also has a side slope I don't find the calcium messy at all. I taken 3 tractors over in my lifetime( 1 loaded and 2 not) and unless I'm mowing will never use an unloaded or at least unweighted tractor. Also in my opinion, unloaded tires "bounce" a lot more and are more likely to go over. I have been using tractors for about 45 years and been in plenty of precarious situations.
My 2120 has been loaded for 13 years and a couple of times when it's had punctures I just load it on the trailer and take to a tire dealer who pumps out the calcium , fixes the tire and pumps the same solution back it

Just a note:

The older New Holland/ Ford 1000/1010/1020 series tractors were made in Japan.

The Boomers are made in Dublin Georgia, USA.

I am just about to take delivery of a NH75S and it's R4's will be CALC loaded. My current 2120 which I keeping and the traded Ford 1710 were also loaded. Even my old 8N was loaded. The only tractor I ever had that wasn't CALC loaded was a Deere 650 and it was so darn tippy that I traded it for the 1710

I can't imagine using a FEL with out rear tire loading. I've had punctures a couple of times and it's no problem if you take (or have their mobil unit come to you) the tractor to a tire dealer who services big trucks and tractors. They just pump out the CALC, fix the leak or put a new tube in and pump the same CALC back in.

Even a decent size puncture doesn't leak out much fluid. I'd also advise not to fill your tires with one of the "solid" fills unless changing them by cutting them in half with a chainsaw is your style. BTW my 2120 is 12 years old and it is still on original rear Ags.

I had a JD 650 many years ago and put a JD backhoe on it. I think it was a Model 7 hoe. It worked fine with one MAJOR limitation. It did not swing 180 degrees. It was a bear to use much of the time. Very difficult to pile the dirt without it falling back into the hole. I may not remember correctly if this was the model but I think it was. I believe it was made by Arps for Deere. Since then I've had 3 hoes on larger compacts and they all swing 180 degrees. I would never buy a hoe that won't swing all the way.

I've just about ready to take delivery on my 4th compact tractor (actually the new one isn't so compact- NH TN75S with a Woods 1050 BackHoe)
At least around here, I don't hear any bad things about Woods. My other machines Ford/NH 2120 has a Ford 758 (made for ford by Arps and is 12 years old- good service- and I use it heavy quite often), I'm keeping the 2120, but trading the backhoe for the larger Woods hoe. Prior to that I had a Ford 1710 with a Ford hoe and that was okay for a machine it's size. I'm getting 3 point on the new Woods 1050. Larger tractor can handle 3 point hoes. One of the main reasons I'm geting the new machine is for the larger hoe and the amount of time it takes to go from 3 point equipment to a frame mounted backhoe. Having just said that, I would not put any hoe on a 1310 without a frame mount (and not just for safety reasons)- I spend enough time at my "large" Kubota/New Holland dealer to see numerous compact tractors with cracked cases each year from 3 point backhoe use.
I also disagree on the issue of digging with bucket curl. Having grown up on a nursery, I have been using backhoes for over 35 years, and trying to think about how I dig, I believe I do most of my digging with bucket curl and a far amout of it is done with the booms all or most of the way extended (and to think you won't be doing that, particularly on a small hoe I believe is kidding yourself). Come to think of it, I can't imagine how you dig with the dipper stick itself? These small hoes pull hard, and they can damage themselves or the tractor (get a subframe and protect your tractor)

Just wanted to give you a little insite from my experience.

Don't diiscount Woods (they make excellent hoes) and also remember ( I made this mistake once and I hated the hoe- on my earliest Compact a small JD, I bought a Deere hoe that didn't swing 180 degrees- I couldn't wait to get rid of it)

I read this thread with interest and unless i am missing something, what was proposed in the original post could be quite dangerous. Connecting a chain to the front of the tractor and running it under the tractor to pull could result in the chain getting wrapped up on one of the wheels/axles etc. This could result in a very dangerous situation. If you want to try and pull them out, either use the front bucket method suggested (first push them over and then dig them out) or else pull them out with a chain correctly attached to the drawbar at the rear of the tractor with the tractor going forward. My current tractor is a Ford (New Holland) 2120 (not sure of any new Boomer's, but the 2120 was larger than any of last years) that I have had for over 12 years and I've pulled out many stumps/trees, but I would never attempt to pull with anything runing under the tractor. I could push over a 2" tree, but a 3" tree would be very challenging. That's what I use my backhoe for.

Even if you meant that the pulling would be done up in front of the tractor, it can result in a very tippie situation.

Also just one final comment on pulling. I have the top edge of my bucket strenthed by welding on a plate and have 4 "tow" hooks welded on. If I attempt to pull without the bucket just about on the ground it is very easy to tip over the tractor and it happens very fast. I also had the bottom "cutting" edge of my bucket made stronger by welding on a thicker edge.

Just thought you might gain something from my experiences.
