I looked at the 790 and 990 too. They only have 3 reverse speeds and I need to use a rear snow blower. My Ford 1910 has 4 reverse and that is marginal.

I went with the L3400 HST and I really love it. It is my first Kubota. I have a JD 355D and a Ford 1910 too. I was quickly spoiled by the HST.

I think reliabilty is pretty good on either unit. Make sure you get a good dealer.

I would not run the rake over you grass. It will do an OK job on the drive if the gravel is loose. If it is packed down you may want a blade or box blade.

Be sure to get the gauge wheels for the rake unless your land is very level.

I've dealt with all the big three. Kubots, JD, NH. Good luck on any of them. The best thing you can have is a good DEALER. They can get things done if they are good.
