I'm a first time buyer looking for a place to start. I'm looking at New Holland equipment, mainly because I have an uncle who has sworn by them for 30 years. I'm also thinking I'd like to go diesel. I was looking at the Boomers as well as the "Compact Diesels". The job I'm buying the tractor for is maintainance of a 3 acre home. The lot has about 1 acre of wood and the rest is open and flat ending with about 175 feet of waterfront. I mention the waterfront because along with it is about 1/2 acre of wetlands that need tendeding. The maintenance will include mowing, snow removal on about 300' of drive, and other gereral duties. I'd rather go too big than too small. The whole thing may sound like overkill, but I lost a leg in a hunting accident, and will be doing the maintenance myself. Any input would be appreciated, starting at what size, right up to preferences between the Boomers and Compacts. Also any pricing insights would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I have bought two used tractors with calcium in them. The first thing I did was drain those suckers, repair or replace the corroded rims, put tubes in them and fill them with air. Wheel weight are the way to go.<br>

My Tractor Supply dealer here found 4 in stock across the country. He also told me that the manufacturer had stopped making them. That makes me worry about repair parts down the road, so I have opted not to purchase that unit.<br>Thanks, though, if I reconsider the Tractor Supply unit, it will be helpful.

I am looking at a B21 used that is in great shape. However my primary use is finish mowing. Does anyone have experience Finish mowing with the B21 is there a reason I should steer clear?

It is hard to give a sure answer from your information. I have a B1750 which, I understand, is built on the same frame as the B2100. It turns remarkably tight, although with the 4WD, the front wheels sometimes cut the ground in sharp turns. I cut 5 acres with my 1750 and a pull-behind mower. When I bought it, the grass was 2' - 3' tall and it cut it without hesitation.<br>As for stability, I don't have any experience with garden tractors, but my Kubota is quite stable. They will roll over, though, just like anything if you put them in the wrong place. If you have a front end loader on the tractor, keep the bucket low when on uneven terrain to keep the center of gravity low.<br>I would measure the grade and check with a Kubota dealer to see if they have any advice on maximum grades for that particular tractor. On some models, the rear wheels can be set outward to improve stability. The dealer should be able to advise you on that too.

Yes and no. The subframe extends forward to the middle of the tractor and is attached to the frame for the front end loader there. Then, you remove the arms from your 3-point and the hoe attaches to the pins right at the tractor. You also attach a bar from under the hoe seat to the center of the 3-point.<br>The other thing that I have heard is that the subframe protects the frame of the tractor from torque (twisting) forces. A year or so ago, I saw a post where the writer said a hoe twisted his tractor nearly in half.<br>That helped me make my decision to purchase the subframe.<br>So yes, some of the weight is still on the 3-point, but not on the arms, only on the pins very close to the frame. And, a lot of the weight (and torque) is held by the subframe.<br>I am still concerned about the overall weight of the hoe on the tractor and keep it off when not using often. When I take it off, the tractor says

I am looking for a small cement mixer to mount on the back of my Kubota B1750. I had an 8 cu.ft. model spec'ed out at Tractor Supply for $599, then found out from the store manager that the manufacturer had quit making them. They could still find some, but I am affraid I won't be able to get parts later on.<br>Thus, I seek the wisdom of the web to help me. Can anyone recommend a brand of cement mixer for my B1705? Does anyone have any experience as to how big is too big for the B1750? What should I expect to pay?<br>Thanks in advance!

I did some research on the same topic and decided to go with a stand-alone unit. One post I saw said that you need 2HP for each 1KW of power generated. The main reason I made my decision to go stand-alone, though, was because the PTO version would be hard for my wife, etc. to use if I was not there. Even if I was around, I wouldn't want to keep the generator on the tractor all the time and might not want to take the time / effort to put it on during a storm when the power goes out the most. Also, if the storm that causes the power outage is a snow / ice storm, I may need the tractor for other duties, such as plowing or pulling the car from a ditch.
