I'm not familiar with Long tractors, but I have an opportunity to purchase one and was wondering if it is a fair deal. I don't know the model number, but I have the specs.<br>

The tractor is a 1983 Long tractor with 49hp and it includes a loader. The engine is a 3 cylinder diesel and the tractor has 4wd. Outside of this, I can't tell you much. <br>

They are asking $8500.00 for it. Is that a good price? Can anyone give me an info about Long tractors? Who makes their motors? Do they hold up? Are parts available for them? Any info you can give me will be helpful!<br>

I had the same problem on my 7305. There is a thread already started on 3-PT problem on a cub cadet. I cleaned/lubed mine up and the problem went away and has never been back. I periodically (once a year) lube up the linkages to make sure that they don't start sticking again.

My 7305 (1998 w/ 500 hrs) makes the same "clicking" sound as you describe when I have the rear PTO engaged and push in on the clutch. It has done this since I bought it (350 hrs). I don't know if it is a problem - everything seems to work fine.

I agree with Yooper. I have a 1998 CC 7305 and had the same problem. Turned out the pivot points in the linkage had gotten pretty sticky. Mine sits outside for much of the summer and I assume that it rusted/gummed up. Nothing a little lubricating oil and working the linkages back and forth for a bit didn't fix!

No, the rear tires are not loaded and I don't have any weights on the tractor. I've thought about having the implement shop come out and add ballast to hold me down - but that thought has been mulled around for two years and I still haven't done it. There have been a couple times I had a "moment" I wish I had em filled.

As far as the bolts as mentioned by Abbey - he is definately right in that department. I make it a habit that during heavy use (not much of that but sometimes) I try to check the engine mount bolts every couple weaks. They do back out - and I have yet to find anything that will keep them in there - no locktite has not worked for me. If you read the postings in here about that - you will notice that most owners do note that issue of the bolts backing out.

I'm thinking of turning some ground and making some food plots, doing some sweet corn, and just going hog wild on the garden. What I'm wondering is, what can I pull?<br>

I have a 30hp Cub Cadet 4wd and am new to small farming. I suppose I need a plough to turn the ground, a disk to break up the big stuff, a harrow possible to level, and a cultivator to pull weeds? Does this sound right?<br>

What can a 30 hp pull? What do they cost? Do I need all four or are there other options? Let me know what you think.

Coating with an anti-seize compound does make sense. Looking at the rear axle however, it seems that it would all have to be disassembled to get into it to coat any of the linkages that were having troubles. The linkage that was stuck was the arm that goes through the casting on the rear axle and goes inside the axle itself (it could have been the brakes that were stuck inside - I don't know since I didn't disassemble).

Life is good now however. I think that I will just try to get into the habit of using the brakes more often (I don't think I've used them more than 2 or 3 times in the past year).

The screen is clear (I clear it before each use during the non-winter uses). As far as the fuel filter - it too was changed (along with the air filter) about 15 hrs ago. I also blow out the air filter - so it looks good.

Be kind - I'm a newbie to this stuff - bought a diesel tractor and a diesel truck at the same time so trying something that I know nothing about.

Let me elaborate a bit more on the power issue and it slowing down - this occurs if I am going uphill, on level ground, or even on a slight downgrade!

As murph states - heat slows them down like ... - do thermostats having issues on these? Would it be recommended to change it?

Anything you can do to help me along & educate me at the same time is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your comments already!
