Just tell the wife you need both-I got away with it.

I did, however, buy both of mine used and I enjoy rebuilding equipment. I had the tractor first and after seeing the prices for used loader attachments, I decided to get a used skid steer. The skid steer is designed for digging into undisturbed earth while the loader cannot. While I have not had either machine very long (less than one year), I think the tractor is more universal considering all the attachments available (I have 9 already). Good luck.

Can somone explain to me exactly how a power rake (or HArley rake) works? It looks like a big laundry wringer with wheels and a 3PT hitch. How does it go about separating the rocks, etc. to the side?

I bought an Italian made 48" tiller from Tarheel and I am quite impressed with its performance. When it first arrived, it looked too big for my 16 PTO HP tractor but it works great.<br>
The question I have is how do I set the slip clutch? Right now, it doesn't slip-if it hits a substantial root, it stalls the tractor (is this damaging to a diesel engine?). Is it set merely by trial and error?<br>

Anyone have any comments on a scoop that can be mounted on the 3 PT hitch, particularly the one from Northern Tool? Does the self tipping feature work OK? Are they useful or is it better to use something else?<br>

I'm not sure if this is the cause but my lower left back has been giving me trouble and I think it is from driving my tractor with tiller (or rake or box blade or...). I've been twisting around and looking back to monitor the attachment's progress. Anybody have the same problem and/or solution (mirrors?)?

Why is it that selling 3 point hitch arms and stays on eBay is so frequent? Do they wear out/break/bend in normal use?<br>

I just bought a post hole digger at an auction and didn't ask until afterwards how many horsepower is required (someone said 30 HP). Well, yesterday I tried it on my 16 PTO HP Kubota B7100 and it worked fine-even in frozen ground. The only problem is that it screwed itself into the ground and I couldn't get it out. My 3 PT hitch couldn't lift it even after I removed the PTO and turned it in reverse manually a couple of turns. I had to disconnect the whole thing from my tractor and was able to use a long pry bar on the loop above the gear case to pull it out of the ground.<br>
My questions are: <br>
1. Is the HP rating there more for the lifting ability than the ability to turn the auger?<br>
2. Why don't PTO and/or the attachments have a reverse so that in a case like this, it could be unscrewed from the ground while lifting?<br>

If anyone is interested,I have the SAE book that gives the standard dimensions for "THREE-POINT FREE-LINK ATTACHMENT OF IMPLEMENTS TO AGRICULTURAL WHEELED TRACTORS---SAE J715 SEP83" and "THREE-POINT HITCH, IMPLEMENT QUICK-ATTACHING COUPLER, AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS---SAE J909 NOV84". There are other interesting specifications-I can scan and post in my AOL FTP space for all to see.

135000 miles on the '95 Dakota SLT Club cab w/V8 and it has never let me down. And I don't baby it either. Have loaded and towed beyond capacity several times, corner faster than my wife likes me to and drive 85. I'd definitely buy another but currently no need to.

I bought my Kubota at an auction in Connecticutt in November. There is a Bobcat dealer in Holtsville that used to be a Kubot dealer but can still get parts (Bobcat of LI 631-447-2228)

My initial question was geared toward improving traction thru the use of additional weight. Many of you have brought up the point of counterbalancing a FEL. A weight box on the 3PH would be more effective, pound for pound, than wheel weights due to the increased distance from the front axle (which would be the pivot point with a FEL). And the point about wheels weight requiring more power to get them going is true though small at the speeds we encounter on our CUTs.

As it was when I bought it used, my tractor's wheels seem to be set for the widest position-there is one hole visible inboard of the wheel hub.<br>
My understanding is that you set it wide for sideways stability on unlevel ground. Are there any other reasons? My land is virtually flat and with a narrower setting, I might just be able to get the tractor into my existing shed and put my truck back in the garage where it belongs.

The exhaust points forward on my B7100 and I was wondering if anyone has either turned it vertical or put an extension on it to run out the back. The way it is, I end up with diesel exhaust smell on my clothes.

I don't know how old a 7950 is but I was able to get the owner's manual and factory parts manual for my 25 year old B7100 on eBay. I was also able to get many new parts thru the local dealer for same tractor.

I have a rear scraper blade and wondering if I need a box scraper? Is the only difference that you can put weight on a box scraper? If I were to get a box scraper, would there be any further use for the scraper blade?<br>

I think what TomG was referring to is that when you PUSH with the bottom of the bucket perpendicular to the ground, the forward force will try to move the bucket cylinder out (extend). This puts an unknown (and unprotected by relief valve) amount of pressure on the rod seals. If you PULL (scrape), the force is the other way around and does directly affect the bucket cylinder rod seals.

The lift arm cylinders are loaded in the opposite direction but because of their angle, the negative effect is not nearly as pronounced.
