I have the BX2230, but want to respond to you regarding traction. You don't need the bar tread! I have very steep areas I mow and the turf tread works like a charm. The bar tread would be better in very few applications, and on balance the turf tread overall is a better choice for what you will be doing. By the way, I pulled a 16 foot walnut log up the hill with my tractor for a mill to pick up to make lumber -- they were amazed I was able to do that. I also have a box blade and filled in 300 feet of utility line trench for a neighbor -- the turf tread would loose traction with a exra full load, but the unit performed great given the size of the tractor! Unless you are always working on unfinished pasture and soils, go with the turf tread.

ScooterMagee, a coment about screens and the "rest of the story". I stayed at the dealer shop and watched the full (with super UDT)50 hour service take place. They did fine except for the screen in the transmission and low and behold they never knew a screen existed. I showed them the manual, the location of the screen, and had them remove it and clean it out. Given this I am not surprised that you found that your screen was not cleaned at the 50 hour service. I get the impression this shop is pretty lax, and I do think it is a good idea to watch them perform their work. They probably think I am an old fuddy duddy but with shop language, but thats ok!

I had the same issue a couple of months ago, I was shoving some stumps and the box blade rolled up on top of the stump and I bent the top link just a bit so it would not shorten all the way. I posted here, wondering about an after market part and got the same history as this post. I did find a cat 1 top link at the John Deere dealership with an eleven inch barrel, ground off about a sixteenth on each side of one end of the attachment for the tractor mounted end and it was good to go. Cost $19. I think most tractor supply stores can order Cat 1 links that are the same approximate length as the Kubota, but they will have to be ground down a tiny bit in order to mount them on the tractor -- there is no problem with the implement end.

I am repeating this from my original post re a hydraulic top link for a BX series tractor:

The product IS NOT recommend by any of the mfg.s for use on tractors this size (BX or B series).
The reasons seem to be:
1. increased likelihood for damages to tractor and implement lift and hitch
parts
2. the implements positioning on the TOP LINK is easy to reach and use
without the use of hydraulics
3. these size Kubota tractors do not have the remote valves
4. lack of demand from the shoppers in the market

Since the attachment is not recommended, and damages should happen to occur to the tractor ... the warranty issues maybe challenged and I cannot recommended that a customer take that important risk. Consequently, we do not offer them as an option at this time.

I would really appreciate a report from any customer that has installed one of the kits (on their own) as to satisfaction level after installing and using it a while.

We are open to adding and selling the option in the future (however a purchaser may need to sign a note concerning the warranty issues acknowledgment."

Thanks everyone for the input. I purchased a 24 inch scoop, made locally and it works great. I moved 10 yds of top soil in about an hour, for a fellow that cannot justify a fel, this is a good peice of equipment.

The book on the 60" kubota mmm indicates the blades are held with a 30.2 mm nut. Will a 30 mm socket fit, or does a person need a special socket to take the blades off to sharpen them?
