Hi. I am thinking of buying a TC24D/12LA loader with 756c backhoe, and am wondering how much traction the hoe will add to the whole thing. Thanks.<br>

Hi. I'm wondering if anybody knows what a new TC33DA or TC29DA should go for in the Seattle area? I'm not sure which one I want yet, but if the price diff is small enough, I will go with the 33. Needs to have hydro, 14LA (no supersteer), R4's, and 757C backhoe. I have found a dealer I like, now I just need to make sure I am getting a fair deal. Thanks. <br>

Hi. I have posted here before and stated that I am buying a tc24d with 12la and backhoe. Well, I had my dealer also deliver a tc29d because I couldn't get it out of my head. I have just 1.25 acres, and all the heavy stuff is pretty much done (I had an excavator in here for a few days). What is left to do is detail/finish landscape work, with creating beds for trees, natural garden areas, kind of a parklike setting.<br>

My question is - has anybody built a winding path through their grounds that a tractor can go back to and maintain/remodel areas like islands with trees, plant some new plantings, maybe later build a gazebo in the far corner of the property, etc.? I have in mind a 4 foot or so wide winding path through the grounds that would allow the tc24d to gain access to all areas in the future, and if I went with the tc29d, the path may have to be 5 feet wide, at which point it starts to look more like a road, not a nice walking path. Am I missing something in this logic? Is it a pipe dream to think I could have a 4 foot path that will allow useful tractor access, or will turning around and actually doing anything with the tractor just screw things up anyway?<br>

If I thought that a 4 foot path would ultimately be pointless for a tractor to work from, I guess I will just go with the tc29d, which really feels like more of what I want from a tractor if I ever get more acreage. Then again, I could stick with the tc24d for what I have to do now, then trade up later....any input? Thanks.<br>

Somebody here said that the 14LA will mount on a tc29d with just a leftover mounting hole. Does anybody know if that would be a problem? I know the front axle is beefier on the 29da, so the load capacity on the 29d would be a concern, but other than that???

Hi. My dealer mentioned that NH told him there MAY be a retrofit kit for the tc29d and tc33d to mount a 14LA loader onto them. I called NH directly to try to get an accurate timeframe, but got the complete runaround (they told me to talk to the dealer, who says he has to hear it from NH!!!). I'm about to buy a tc24D to do alot of finish/detail landscaping work on 1.25 acres, but I had the dealer bring out a tc29D so I could try that also. I guess the tc29d is my dream tractor, IF it had the 14LA loader on it. I don't like the new da's front end changes, so that's out. Aargh..<br>

Any knowledge of whether the 14LA can possibly maybe someday be mounted to a tc29D would be mucho appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. I just bought a TC24D that had 7 hours on it. I asked the dealer if I should take it easy for the first few hours, because I have seen something about that discussed here before. He just said "Let er' rip", which made me wonder what the hey to do. Is he wrong, or since it's already been run 7 hours, do I not need to worry about breaking it in? Other than that, and a few little things that caused me to think he may not know as much as he could about this machine, he is alright. I've gotten good feedback from the locals who have dealt with him before. Thanks.<br>

I am going to get a 54" bucket, because I want the extra width to set lumber on the bucket, etc. My question is - apparently, each size (48" and 54") have two styles, a light duty and a heavy duty. From what I have gathered, the light duty is deeper for more volume, but can't handle a full load of, say, sand. The heavy duty is not as big volume wise, but you can load it heaping and not worry about it.<br>

Anybody have any knowledge or experience with this issue? My hunch tells me to get the heavy duty, but I dunno for sure. Like I said, I am sure about the 54" part.<br>

Hi. I just arranged for delivery of a new NH TC24D, for $19,700 TLB. I was thinking of going with a NH TC29 or 33D, but decided that the 24 will better suit what I have going on right now (landscape detail work). So, I had a thought - the extra $4000.00 or so it would have cost me to go with the 29 or 33 will go a long way towards purchasing a second tractor, one that is just bare bones but solid and powerful, maybe 35hp or so. I would probably want a FEL on it also. Any opinions about cheap, dependable work horses out there, Chinese or Grey or ???? I'm not too mechanically adept, but if need be, I'm sure I could get by. Thanks.<br>

I am about to buy a NH TC24D, but if the 14LA will fit on a 29D, I will buy that. I want the new style loader, and from what I can gather, the 29 and 33d's will only take a 7308. Anybody out there know??

Hi. I may buy a TC24D with 12LA loader, and I have looked at two different rigs. One had a 48" bucket, the other a 54". It may have been my eyes playing tricks, but it looked like the 48" was deeper in addition to narrower. The 54" looked longer but shallower. Like I said, probably an illusion, but I thought it was worth a reality check to see if it's possible the two different NH dealers got their 12LA buckets from different sources. I was assuming that whether it was 48" or 54", they would always come from New Holland. Thanks.<br>

I am wondering if I shouldn't bump up to the NH TC29D for about $3500.00 more (even though I very much prefer the new curved loader on the small and large Boomers. The 29, or mid-sized, can only take the 7308 loader). I have done enough research at this point (with everybody on TBN's help ) to narrow it down to these two. A few days ago I was sure that the 24 was right for me, but now I find myself in that black hole otherwise known as "The One And Only Tractor For Every Job That I Will Ever Need It For-itis". My place is just 1.5 acres, and I mainly have just landscaping to do, move a bit of topsoil and gravel, plant a whole bunch of trees, dig a couple utility trenches (I am definitely going TLB, no matter which I choose), etc. etc. <br>

I am going to have a riding lawn mower or a zero turning radius mower, so I won't be mowing lawn with the tractor. <br>

It's a drag, but I am just not getting past the thought of the 24 as a "lawn tractor on steroids", as somebody here has described other small CUT's. Maybe it's a guy thing, thinking that riding around on the 29 would be like being on a "real" tractor, and that the 24 would feel like a toy (even though I know it's not). Maybe it boils down to the thought of needing the bigger one in those moments when you wish like hell you had a bigger machine. Maybe those moments occur just as frequently in the opposite direction, where you have a biggun' but wish like hell you had a smaller one. I don't know. <br>

I have had 5 acres before and I know that there is no such thing as too big of a machine WHEN YOU NEED IT. Aargh. So, I now am thinking that, even though I have very small acreage, maybe the 29 would do everything faster, and the tradeoff (the 24's mobility and driving gingerly onto the lawn and getting into close quarters) would be worth it. But, in reality, I only need the small one now (I don't mind the extra time it would take to do stuff on the 24, although I wonder if the extra trips would reduce the life of the machine). My immediate future holds ALOT of landscaping and driving around on the lawn, probably, to dig tree holes and dress areas of the yard. <br>

Maybe the thing to do is get the 24, do what I need to do now, then, if and when I get more land, trade it in and buy a bigger one. <br>

Ultimately, in a dream scenario, I would have ten acres with a TC24D and a TC35D. The small one for versatility, barn chores, maintenance, etc., and the large one for doing the big, big jobs that I know I will need to do when I have more acreage and more rough-in work to do. That, though, is for a later time. Any thoughts you all may have are much appreciated. <br>

Hi. I am trying to figure out the best size box blade to put on a NH TC24D. I really only have some grapefruit size rocks and twigs sticking out of the ground now, but I'm sure more will surface. I have heard that the 48" is sized closer, but a 60" will still work fine if you don't get too greedy. Opinions, anyone? Thanks.<br>

P.S. - also looking for opinions as to the best tool for picking up these rocks and sticks, getting ready for lawn turf. I am just kind of assuming a BB would be best.<br>

Thanks everybody for the input. I ended up deciding on the NH TC24D with 12LA loader and 756C backhoe. I'm sure I will use all of it often for as long as I am still kicking. If I need big stuff done, I will hire THAT out. This is for all the things that come up needing to be done when one owns any property at all. I am also a contractor and it will come in handy for barn building (I always rent a Bobcat with a 24" auger for the post holes, the tractor will do utility lines, move lumber, etc.) I guess my first post made it sound as if I only need it for a "one off" job. Nope. That's just what I have in front of me right now.

Deciding factor: I wanted it! What the hell. Life's too short. Dealer gave me what I think is a good price ($19,700 TLB), and now I just need to decide which implements I need for what I am up to. Here's the story...<br>

I need to clean up a 1 acre cleared area by rocking/sticking/raking, moving and spreading maybe 100 yards of topsoil (some on 5' high berms that are narrow and steep), prepping the turf for lawn seed by raking/dragging, spreading and dressing about 50 yards of 5/8"- gravel, moving and spreading about 20 yards of sand in the base of a pond (before the liner is applied), picking up/dragging rocks and cedar stump snags that were unearthed (placing them next to or on the berms or in corners of the yard), maybe digging about 30 fence post holes (that's a maybe, but I think so...), digging up a few small (8"-10" diameter) stumps, moving some ice storm damage into a burn pile (limbs and small stumps), tending the burn pile (small, maybe 8x8x6), a couple of power/water trenches (200' - 300' total), digging holes for nursery-bought trees, and moving maybe 20 yards of ornamental rock around to little islands in the lawn.<br>

Obviously, if I want to dig fence post holes, I need an auger. Aside from that, I am not 100% sure what the best things to get would be. I have in mind a 5" Woods rear blade (I have worked with one before on an old Ford 8N) and a 4" Woods box blade. I originally thought I should get the rear blade and a landscape rake, but I have since heard that the landscape rake will not do a good job getting the sticks and small rocks that are buried a couple of inches underground (it would just clog up or not get them at all or break) and that they are really intended for loose stuff like sand.<br>

I am also thinking about getting teeth for the bucket.<br>

Hi. I have just an acre that is cleared and ready to prep for lawn seed. I have some topsoil and gravel to move, about 100 yards of soil and 20 yards gravel. I am looking at the JD 4110 and the Kubota BX23. I'm looking for opinions as to which is best (very subjective, I know). Also, which New Holland machine is comparable to the above? Whichever I go with, I may sell the machine in a year or so, when everything is pretty much done, and then just maintain with a riding mower with bagger. Of course, I could always use a small tractor around the place and may regret selling, but for now, finances dictate I cover all my bases just in case. Thanks for your input.

Well, heck. Now I am seriously looking at that BX22 (or 23, don't know the diff) and wondering if it would accomplish my first idea, which is to have a MMM on a small machine (so I could mow the lawn) AND have a small hoe to help dig out what, in reality, are very small stumps. Maybe this would be a keeper if I could get one cheap enough that would also be my easy to use lawn mower when I wasn't digging up small stumps or loading some topsoil here and there.

I know I am sounding like the typical yahoo who isn't thinking ahead, and may be sorely disappointed once he realizes that he basically bought a go-cart with a scoop, but this thing seems like it would be lightning fast to sell if that time came and I wanted to "Get Real". However, if I wanted to "Get Real", now, would Chief's suggestion be the best? Get a JD 4310 and call it good? One of those would probably move just as quick in the resale market. Thanks, guys, for all the help.
