I don't think there is a repair manual out yet for the L2900 or L3400. I have been trying to find one and I guess they are to new. I always see the glow plug light when my L3400 starts. As long as it goes off I believe your OK

I have a L3400 and purchased a Great Bend 2175 backhoe attachment. It works great and is a self contained unit. It also uses rams to move side to side vs. the Kubota using a geared chain. Great Bend is made by Bush Hog which is a good company. I have had no problems with it. I paid $6000.00 for it brand new and they mounted it for me. It is supposed to be fairly easy to remove. I have not taken it off as of yet.

Personally I hope all stores and restaurants and service places in general would give personalized service. It does not take that much extra effort to be nice and care about what someone says. I did not mean to get on a soap box but it is easy to look for negatives but there are also many positives. We live in a global society. Very few things will be 100% American. I remember laughing at Japanese products and now they are the best quality. Anybody think a GE TV or VCR is made by General Electric? How about RCA. Nope they make none of them. It is owned by Thompson Electronics of FRANCE and made in China. What irritates me is they use US brand names but they are not even the companies they pretend to be. It should be outlawed.

I was in Grove and Jay the other day. It is a pretty spot and growing... The main road going to Holiday Island is under big construction! I think there are plenty of low cost nice hotels around there. Compared to most places in the US it is very affordable. On Airports you forgot to mention XNA which is Northwest Arkansas. It is also about 50 miles away from Grove. Is there still plenty of lake front property there for sale? There is a place near me called Bella Vista that was a retirement area and now the lake lots are $80K for anything with a view. OUCH!

I just came back from the dealer (again) and took a drive with the tech. He said the trans was the gears needing to be worn in. The diesel fumes he said was the wind blowing. I asked him how at 40 mph the fumes could blow in and he said it can. I think I will try another dealer soon. I hate messing around with car dealers...

Guys, I can tell you a little about tools. I worked for a big one for 18 years. The Rigid and Craftsman brands are made by other tool manufacturers. B&D, Ryobi etc. They give the specs and the tool guys bid on the item based on volume and capacity at the plants. Sometimes it is cheaper to give a price break to keep the line operating at full capacity. Some of the off brands you see are just Chinese junk. My advise is stick to the brands. You can always get service and they usually back up the product. They know word of mouth can help or hurt them. For heavy duty work look at DeWalt, Makita or Milwaukee. For medium duty try B&D FireStorm. For real light duty you should go with the Ryobi or Makita or B&D. Remember the heavier duty items use higher voltage batteries and they can get heavy if you are using them and are not a body builder. I found it is better for light duty drilling to use a 9.6 volt. If you are going to drill into metal or hard woods for a long time go for the 12 volt or the 14.4. The 18 and 24 volt are great but overkill for most of us.

Hello Guys,

I just made arrangements to get a Ranchhand front bumper and grill guard, steps, headache rack and spray in bed liner on Thursday. I figured if I'm jumping in for a new truck I might as well go in with both feet. I told my wife that it is not really like spending money, its protecting our investment. The heavy welded steel will make sure that the front end does not get banged up.

I have not told her they make a back bumper too!

Congratulations on your purchase! Make sure to read the entire manual and follow the directions. Tractors are fun but also can be dangerous and put you in situations that test your metal. I'm sure everyone has stories about pushing the tractor a little too far...

You will find that seat time is one of the best times for figuring out all your problems.

I'm getting concerned about Ebay. I was trying to buy a motorcycle for my son and ran into a scam twice! Both were pay to Western Union and we will ship the bike. You have no recourse with Western Union and they know it. I reported the fraud to Ebay and they pulled the guys off. You can report them on the Ebay site. I encourage you to do so. It is a shame that people always find a way to try and cheat others. I have bought a bunch of big ticket items on Ebay and been pleased for the most part. I did buy them a couple of years ago when it was still a new service. Now the thiefs have figured it out!

My opinion is Kubota makes a great tractor for the money. My 2 cents. I have found over the years when I worked for a large manufacturing company, that most returns and complaints come from people who don't read the directions or manuals. If you follow the directions most things seem to work better. Strange how that works...

I just bought a Kubota L3400DT with FEL, shredder, box blade and trailer with new tires. I paid $17K for the whole thing. I felt it was a good price. The JD790 was too tight and cramped when I sat in the seat. The price I was quoted from JD was about the same as what you were quoted. The Kobota just felt better to me. I also had a L2650 Kubota for 10 years with no problems so that swayed me a bit also.

The best part to remember, soon you will be getting seat time on a nice tractor either way you go.

I'll throw my two cents in. I have been using dust masks forever. I tried the cheap paper and then the masks. I bought the battery powered fresh air masks ($300.). They all did OK but I still had crud in my throat and nose. I especially needed something for diesel fumes from my tractor. I talked to a guy who works sanding drywall and he told me to get 3M drywall masks at Lowe's. They are kind of a gray color and a lot thinker than the paper ones. There is also one that is white and is for dust that work. I carry a ziplock bag and when I'm done I put it in there and use it again. Depending on how much sweat is on it is how long it lasts. The most important thing is I can breathe... I hope this helps.

He is not blowing smoke. You need a counter balance. When you lift the weight in the front up, after a certain point the center of gravity shifts. I usually have a shredder or boxblade on mine and it seems to do the trick. If your using a loader be careful until you know what your tractor will do. All tractors regardless of size will topple. I'm sure some of the other guys on the board are much more experienced than I, and can relate some information.

I'm not sure of the exact price difference. The 3130 may have more electronics on it. I like things pretty simple and not too many changes. The L3400 does indeed have the shuttle shift, my L2650 did too. It easy, put the tractor in whatever gear lets say 4 in low. Now you can just shift between F & R in that range. If you wanted 2 in the high range same deal. I considered the hst but decided the traditional way was right for me.

I can't say enough good things about Kubota. I would go with them over any brand. I just bought my second Kubota in 10 years. I looked at them all but Kubota never let me down before why not be loyal. We all have our opinion. Go sit on them all and see what feels right to you. Then look at the specs. You also need to see about service (if needed) and the dealers attitude to answering questions.

Kubota is a great tractor that is priced right. I had a L2650 for 10 years that took unbelievable abuse from us and never was in the shop. I sold my place and the tractor with it. I moved here to Arkansas and I just bought a L3400. A little bigger than the previous one but close. I looked at the JD790 and it felt like a kiddie tractor and I'm only 6'1" Make sure you get what is right for you.

I had a Kubota 2650 to manage 68 acres. It was too small. I'm looking at the L3400 which is 34 hp and should be about right. The problem is that they want around $15,000 with a loader on it. Sounds high but these things will last forever and a loader sure comes in handy. I agree that the JD 790 is too small. The JD 990 is the right one but they want around $12,500 just for the tractor. A nice used one would be fine. If you buy from a dealer they mark them up high. You might try ebay if there are no good ones in your area. I have had good luck at ebay.
