JD 419 Loader should run you less than 3K installed with a ballast box. Maybe save a couple hundred if they let you install yourself.

I am confused by your model,, GT325. They make a GT235, and they make a GX325 that replaced the 325 last year. They are all somewhat different tractors, but the GX325 and 325 are basically the same machine. You could check with Femco Mfg, they used to manufacturer weather enclosures for Deere, and they made a hard and soft sided enclosure for the 325, but I'd contact them to see if it still fits the GX325. http://www.femcomfg.com/index.html

Curtis Cab company also made one for the 325, but they don't show one yet for the GX325 or the GT235. http://www.curtiscab.com

I beleive that is what is happening,, the glow plugs don't work unless you have the key switch in the "crank" position, and by putting it in gear it allows the glow plugs to heat up without turning the engine over.

From what I can see, the two tractors are in different classes. The Sears you mention looks like they classify it as a Garden tractor capable of using a tiller,, while the Deere L130 is a lawn tractor. While both use a 48" deck, the Sears GT has larger tires, and both use the Kohler engines. At this point, HP isn't an issue, all of these box type tractors are highly overpowered. I would take a look at things like the hood construction, metal vs. poly. (dents and rust down the road with the sears) Look at the frames, Deere uses fully welded frame, not bolted together. Make sure you get on both machines and feel them out, quality of components, comfort of seat, (black "hot" seat on sears), mower deck height adjustment, hydro operation etc. The turning radius looks larger, according to the Sears website, at 30", seems big for a lawn mower. Also, consider the 2 sources for future parts and service. (I'm assuming you would buy the L130 from a Deere dealer, since pricing is the same as H Depot)

Isn't it amazing how things snowball when you start shopping for something? Start looking at a LT tractor to mow the lawn, and now you are looking at a sub compact tractor! Take your time, and yes, you can rent a backhoe on a tractor for a couple hundred bucks a weekend for the jobs you need it for. I wouldn't doubt you could just rent an attachment for a small tractor someplace also.
Keep thinking this thru,, and you will come up with the right tractor for you.

I would check another JD Dealer, I would be selling that package for approximately 13,200 or so where I work. FEL, MMM, Tractor,, and the 3pt hitch and 540 pto come standard.

Double, and Triple check your hydraulic couplers! take them off, and put them back on, and make triple sure they are all the way on!

Don't let the amount of discount sway your decision, all that has to do with is the dealers margins. They are extremely different between the 90 series tractors and the 4020 series tractors.
