I would use the gaskets if possible. Thinner is better with gasketing. Good luck getting an even amount of RTV throughout the sealing surface.The OEM's that use RTV use calibrated equipment to apply that stuff. With sheet packing(gaskets) you will get material that is compatible with the variuos media's you are sealing.
Having said that I used RTV on my old Kubota's gear box with no problem. That was in a pinch, not rebuilding a whole engine. Good Luck!

I have the same machine. I use a 60" rear mower that has never even come close to stalling. Even in heavy grass. As for the ride check your tire pressure. Someone gave me that tip on this board, my tires were at 24lbs. I backed them down to 14lbs, and have a much better ride. I hate the pop up's, I realize I repeated what Tom said...

I own a Howse 4'. Paid $425 new. It works well. My tractor cannot handle anything bigger. No complaints.

Nice piece of property Chuck. You need to go shopping and find something that fits your budget and needs. Most compacts will fill your need more than likely. Drive some and see what your comfortable with. I finish mow 4 acres, plow 600' of driveway, and brush hog a 10 acre pine tree field with a Kubota B7500. It works fine for my needs. Others may think it's a bit small. I have no complaints. Good luck.

You will not find a tree spade for a compact. None of them have the weight, horsepower, or Hydraulics to run one. Skid steers have higher horsepower and gear pump ratios than compacts. At the very best you may be able to run a 20" spade with a compact tractor(35 + HP) . That is to small to be worth the time or investment. Trust me, I have thought long and hard on this subject, I belive I have hand dug 2-3 thousand pine trees.

These three subcompacts all look like great little machines. What is your take(s) on them? Does anyone have any experience with the Massey? I only sat on one and it seems very solid, well built. Can they handle standard 3 point implements? Box scraper, snow blade, 5 ft rear finish mowers? Thanks.

I won't park my tractor in the shed for this very reason. It stays in the garage. It's a great source of humor to my wife. It would drive me crazy to have mice in or on my tractor.

This is an excellent little machine. I put about 2 more hours on mine today. It's probably too late for you but my machine has "Bar" turfs. I'm sure this option is available anywhere. It is a cleated turf tire. I did not need chains to plow snow and it really does not tear up the lawn. We had about 100" of snow this year in Northern Ohio . Good Luck!

It is interesting how people view the same equipment differently. I would NOT like the operator presence system. I do like the layout of the 2210 better than the Kubota, it seems a little better thought out. My B7500 does have a clutch on the left foot side for starting, high low, and PTO. Again, I really like the 7500.

Come to think of it a lot of the old Kubota's have a mashed in grill where the enertia of the implement or tractor pushed them into something. Food for thought. My sister hit an apple tree.

I have a question about box blades. I own a B7500 and may be buying an older home on 20 acres. Most of it is wooded but there's about 4-5 acres of grass. I currently mow 4 acres of grass(my curent reidence) with my 7500 and a Continental Belton 3point. The question is the new property looks like it has never been graded, it is a mature yard but with my current set up I would be scalping half high spots in the lawn. I realize the B 7500 has no 3 pt down pressure(never a problem till now), would a box grader be efficient in leveling some of these areas? I will be adding a loader soon but do not like the thought of bringing in 20 tons of top soil. I do not own a box scraper but will purchase one to handle this task, if and a big if this deal goes thru. I would appreciate everyones comments. My thoughts and prayers to the soldiers and their families. DC Smith

Thats a good point about them being older. When I owned one it was 14 years ago. My memory of the late 80's keeps me thinking that it was only a couple years ago. There are some nice non-compact that are very much affordable.

Today in northern Ohio we reached the 60 degree point for the first time since like October of last year. I have a driveway that is 600 feet long. I spent the better part of 3 hours raking #57 stone out of the grass from plowing. Every year I tell myself I am going to be more carefull with the plow, and with about 100" of snow here in Nor-Ohio I still spent 1/2 a day raking. When the snow starts to melt I always drag the mounds of snow and gravel back into the drive to reduce the labor and time. What a bitch. Anyone else with some new blisters?

I used to use protection on my old machine(L175) while brush hogging. I no longer need to with my B7500. I do not know why other than it is quieter.

Go talk to the dealer first. Sometimes they can be very helpfull. Ask them anything, talk to their mechanics. If it is something routine maybe they can help, if not then you know where to go. Good luck
