The seal on my pto shaft is leaking and needs replacing. whenever I loosen the (4) bolts on the seal housing cover plate to get to the seal, the whole splined shaft wants to come out with the seal housing. If I remove the entire pto shaft, whats behind there? In other words, will I be able to just slide it back into where ever it needs to engage back in to, or is there some sort of gear or something that's gonna drop down when I remove the shaft completely? Ever better, should the seal and housing slide off the shaft without removing the splined shaft, and if so, then why isnt mine doing that and how would you suggest separating the two. <br>
Didn't mean to write a novel, just wanted to be sure I gave enough info for the gurus out there to go on! Thanks!

whew...I fell much better now too....the dealer showed me the crate that my new 3010 came in and told me he had to finish asembling it, and I just assumed he meant stuff like steering wheel, ROPS and wheels / tires and such....

I sure was hoping that the engine and transmission came already installed...

It might be a good joke to the dealers, but its 15-20 grand of our money that we're spending, and I really want a dealer who shoots straight and doesnt kid around about things like that! I dont mind kidding around about muffler bearings and changing the air in the tires, but I would of seriously considered not buying that machine if the engine had to be installed, then who would the joke of been on?

is that rockett Cafe still open?..that used to be a Friday evening staple for me and the wife....I moved up north (Flower Mound) in 1993, after I got laid off from the Times Herald....I built on 13 acres just off off I-35 / 387 exit....sold my place to a horseman who got moved up here to work on the Supercollider!!...We drove by the place a few months ago, still the same barbed wire fence, but man has Waxahachie changed!! Got a TSC where the old WalMart used to be I noticed..wish that was there when I was living out there....there sure are some beautiful old Victorian houses in that part of the country...those sure were some good times back in the days!

i have a 3010 with just over 100 hrs on it...had the 50 hr checkup done at dealer, and tractor runs fine as far as I can tell....question is: temp gauge goes almost all the way into the red within an hr of usage, mostly just brushhogging grass less than a foot tall....all the fluids are within specs and radiator screen is cleaned before each use....just curious how far needle should be into the red before i should be concerned...the most i ever use the tractor is about 5-6 hrs at a time, usually my wife will mow back part of property while i trim the fence lines and such, then it will sit until next day and then i will finish mowing the rest of property.
Any suggestions to keep the machine cooler, or is there a way to be sure the gauge isn't defetive?

my sentiments exactly art.....why put the excess wear and tear on parts when its not necessary.
i mainly use my 4 wd on slopes or hills when i need the extra traction, i disengage it when doing normal mowing / blading / spreading.

not sure what the rake is worth, but last may, i got a 3010HST w/5' mower, r4's, 5' box blade, FEL and a trailer for 16650 brand new.....15k seems a bit much for a 140 hr machine....would prob buy new if I couldnt get it down to at least 13k!

Hmmm....here in Dallas, you can rent a trencher with a rock chain for $100 for 4 hrs, $140 a day....it shouldnt take u more than a day to go 900 feet....might want to consider that before u take a chance on doing any damage to a $300-$500 blade or even worse, damaging your tractor...

just my opinion, but....if this is your first tractor and u are fairly inexperienced with use/repair of such, u should probably stay away from this one...it appears to need parts and repairs..there is nothing worse than getting prepared to use the tractor all day, taking off work or whatever, and then having a tractor that aint working...the price may be right, but personally i'd steer clear of it and look for a better deal...

never owned a 3 wheeler, but we have (4) 4 wheel ATV's which we use on the property now, my kids ride theirs for enjoyment, and i use one of them to pull my trailer around property (keeps hrs off tractor) and my wife and i use other one to just mainly cruise around (keeps wear and tear off of truck)...my main problem i noticed when i was younger and riding friends 3 wheelers was the fact that many times i saw peoples feet come off the foot pegs and get ran over by the rear wheels..not being careless or anything, just that feet do happen to come off when u hit bumps and feet are very close to rear wheels on 3 wheelers..dont seem to have this problem with the 4 wheelers...

Seth, u really should consider the Kubotas. I just purchased a L3010 w/FEL, 5' mower, 5' boxblade, R4 tires ($650), and a trailer for less than $18K..a few more HP than the Cub and overall a really good machine..

those numbers sound about right to me...when i was looking at green a couple months ago, i got a best price for 4110 w/FEL, 5' mower, 5' boxblade for $16,750...and that was before the rebate/incentives came out...it would probably be worth the extra $2600 (especially when it's YOUR money) to buy new and get warranty and dealer relationship going for u. Not sure what york rake is worth or do u really plan on needing it in the future?

I just purchased a 3010 HST, was having a similiar problem, but when i would push in on clutch a couple of times , it would finally fall in place....then i read owners manual one night, and it tells u to adjust throttle just a hair and it should line right up, and sure enough, mine has every time so far....always when coming out of/going into middle range also....good luck

before i bought my kubota back in april, i was seriously considering 33D ...best price i found in dallas was :
33D w/o SS , 7308 loader, 5' rhino SE5, 5' box blade, R4 tires.... $17,500... seems like $13K for tractor is about right, and this was before any rebates or such

a neighbor of mine has a old galvanized piece of something, he called it a drag mat, that he used for maintaining the sandy infield of the littleleagues baseball diamonds, he says i can use it whenever i want...is this similiar to a harrow, or will it at least do the trick for leveling out the ground?it is about 5 ft wide, 12 ft long, with small (1/2" x1") squares, kinda like conveyor belting, and it weighs a ton (actually bout 100 pds)...will this work for dragging the pasture and filling in low spots and ruts?

hey jim, tried that, but he always heads for the wet part of the land, bout a 150' diameter which still hasnt dried out yet..we get friggin' rain every week here in texas in the early spring, then beg for it the rest of the summer!
