Do you have a B21? That's what I have and use the post hole digger with the 6" auger constantly. When it was new it would tear through anything. Now it needs help just getting through some grass. I know the safety nuts will yell at me but my dad and I take turns standing on the lift arms and leaning over the auger. Maybe if you can get your wife to do this she won't say " I told you so" and just be happy you're doing something together. Seriously, I read on another discussion that sharp cutting blades make a difference. Are your blades sharp? I'm definitely going to change the cutting edges on the auger when the ground thaws. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the info. I also have an Allis 175 with a 3 bottom plow to handle the tough stuff but I like to do things the fun way. It probably sounds crazy but I would rather take my time with a small machine than rush through it just to get it done. At least people on this forum will understand what that's about.
