deere88, I ordered a jd790 and at the last minute, changed to the jd990. The 990 will do any job that you need to do. This is a tuff tractor.

I have jd990. I have not had any problems with mine so far except for installing another fuel line to the opposite side of the tank.I have 4wd and love it. Handles a loader well. If you don't mind gears, I would suggest a trial run.

Buyensell, I have had a jd970 for 15 years and purchased a new jd990 25 months ago. I am a gear driver,not as much to worry with in my opinion,I have only had one problem with 970 in 4500 hrs, the hydraulic pump cracked. Last week in her 25th month on my 990, the battery just died.My dealer just GAVE me another without question and it was out of warranty.

since you are on flat ground,I would demo the 11ft to see how your tractor is going to respond.I believe that 15ft is a little much for a 1070.I use a 95hp to pull a 15ft bush hog bat wing and it knows its back there!Let us know if you demo with results.

NC,I have a 990 and I use a bushog brand FEL and a bushog brand 6' cutter.You should not have any problem with other brand implements.Good tractor!Rick

If you are only digging 60',rent a backhoe.You should be able to complete your trench in a weekend at the most.If you are buying a tractor,purchase a FEL with it and use it for this project to backfill and you will have an implement you can use from now on.

Capt.B, when you start using your split brakes for any of your tractor operations,you will think you are on a totally different machine.Do you have a problem with your tractor shutting off when fuel is at 1/2 tank or less while on a slight slope?If so, I have a 990 and got dealer to fix that problem even using my suggestion.

jeff r,lets see how "stupid" this sounds,1990 jd970 with 4500hrs since new,no problems except one hydraulic pump and that is it.This tractor was purchased at my place of employment new and is still running strong!With these results,I purchased a 2002 JD990 because whoever built this tractor(which is the same with 10 more hp and 4x4)did a very good job!

Good choice,have used a 970(basically same tractor)for 13years w/4500hrs on it,should last you a long time!

If this tractor only has 3 hrs,the oil should still be breakin oil,send sample off and check for type.$24,000 is quite a large amout of change to guess with!
