Hi, I have owned My YM3000 for about five years. It is a 1977 model. Rated at 34 hp. It has been a great tractor with just the most basic maintanence needed. I also have a Bushhog brand loader mounted. I have used the pto, loader and three point in many tough situations over the years as I clear land building this little farm in SC. The only thing I might change if I ever upgrade would be to have 4 wheel drive. The loader adds much weight to the front end,which may at times cause the rear to get a little light without a ballast. I usually just hang the box blad back there to do heavy loader work. have had good luck with this tractor. Tony

I have had the same thought recently while doing some spring lawn planting. I have access to both steel and plastic drums. I don't think the plastic ones could be of any use other than using them as ballast or weight adders on top of plow units. The idea I had was to take a used 55 gal antifreeze drum. These can be picked up anywhere for a few dollars. Most diesel truck shops are glad to get rid of them. Weld a piece of flat bar or channel on each end. Come up with some type of bearing assy. for each side. using a pair of old bed frame rails make a hitch. It's cheap!
The bed rails probably could be bent by hand and if you don't weld a local shop could do it reasonably cheap
One note of caution: know what was in the drum. I won't weld or cut drums that have had fuel or additives in them. Windshield washer fluid either. It's just not worth it.

Thanks for the info guys. I will get the numbers and get them on the next post. The tractor just looks too good to be that old,still has factory paint and 1000 hrs.

I just run off road diesel available locally for farm equipment and other tractor type equipment. It is the same diesel that was available before the sulfur was cut back. It is also red in color so that it can be identified as off road diesel by the DOT when they bust you running it in a big truck. This fuel also burns hotter which equals more power and also contains the sulfur non automotive diesel fuel pumps need for lubrication. I sometimes run this fuel in my Ford with a 7.3(farm tag) and notice a little more smoke. There can be as mich as a $.50 price difference per gallon(cheaper) with the off road fuel.

Thanks guys, the info helps a little. I'll have to play arond with it a little. I do not have glow plugs on my 3000.I'll try spinning the engine without compression, then adding some to build some heat, stop add fuel and retry.

It does sound as though you guys have it figured out.I probably would be better off with a PB valve. I will be doing alot of grading work with this tractor using a box scrape and the loader. While holding up the scraper inorder to pick up the dirt with the loader you can see which line the pressure is in easily. The dealer who put the loader on before I bought the tractor,well, didn't do a very good job.
I have had to rework all the mounting points, replace rubbed lines, and well , if the valve I ended up with was cheaper than the PB valve, that explains it. According to the prievious owner he has put a hydrulic pump on since adding the loader.The pump was over $300. I see that the valve would fail before the pump. This was all great info, thanks again

Pertaining to this question, what does the valve under the seat do, or what does it regulate exactly?
