It is more or less the going price. I didn't think it was worth 50% more than the (nearly) comparable Howse or King Kutter box blade. YMMV.

I can tell you it was the International Harvester Farmall MD that was started on gas and switched to diesel with a change in the combustion chamber volume to increase the compression ratio. I don't know how long IH continued this practice (Super MD probably did, but not sure about the 400, 450, etc.). You can imagine that this was cheaper to buy and maintain than the pony start diesels that John Deere was selling.

No doubt that Peters is right about the change in volume of a saturated solution. But the owners manual for my tractor says for 90% fill you take 38 gallons of water and 187 pounds of CaCl to get about 504 pounds of solution per tire. They don't say what the actual resulting volume is.

Some lift adjustment is normal with position control. There is a feedback mechanism that tries to bleed and/or add fluid as required to hold the set position. Excessive adjustment means something is leaking down too much. The old rule of thumb is that if it takes more than 10-15 minutes for a raised implement to reach the ground when you shut off the engine then the lift is working "well enough".

I know somebody with a flail mower. The cut quality is a little better than my rotary cutter, but not nearly as good as a finish mower. I guess he could get a better cut if he would replace/sharpen all the knives.

In general, in my area the only people who buy flail mowers are the DOT and town government parks depts. because they don't want to risk throwing anything from the mower.

I suggest you look at the bottom of your differential and see if it is already drilled and tapped. If so, get the right drawbar bracket for your tractor (make a template and take it with you if you want to look at aftermarket stuff).

Personally, I am not brave enough to drill and tap a differential case on a tractor I haven't already torn down.
