Thanks to everyone who replied. I got the tractor started. The blockage was between the fuel filter and the injector pump.
Managed to get the tractor headed uphill, turned around, and back on safe ground. Reattached the brush hogger and came down off the hill, never to return!

I would consider the 790. You could do everything you mentioned and get good reliability and performance from a gear driven tractor for less loot.

Should I give Deere one more try of buy Kubota

Tom and Leonard, I'd like to thank you both for much appreciated input. I am going to obtain a manual and tear the tractor down as much as I think i can handle. If I have to take it to a dealer, I will have at least saved some labor cost for the stuff they won't have to take off (like a fender or rops) Thanks again and regards ~~Lou~~

What is the difference between the Boomer tractors and the models 1720 or 1920 tractors. Is it only looks and size or can one do more than the other as it lifting or front loader work?

I have the chance to purchase a Ford 1720 tractor with a front end loader and heated hardshelled cab. It has 480 hrs and was used primarily to clear sidewalks by a small town. The dealer said the tractor looks very clean and would be a good buy for $15,000. I have no experience with tractors of any size but I have been pricing them and this appears to be a decent deal for the size machine. It is very difficult to locate used compact tractors in my area.<br> <br>How is the reputation for the Fords in particular the 1720 model? Is it a dependable tractor for starting and snow removal? The dealer also had a JD 770 for $11,800 which I was considering but the Ford looked so much bigger and had alot more options for an additional $3,200. Please give some comments on the quality of the Ford and is there any comparison of the JD and Ford or are they just two different machines not comparable?

I have the chance to buy a JD 770 model 4wd with 70loader for 11,800 from a local dealer. It has 350hrs and is a 1994. Is this a good quality tractor? Where can I find the specs or some literaturen it. I need it for snow removal mainly although I will brush hog my field with it. I can't afford more than 12,000 at this time. I was going to try it for a year or two and maybe trade up if I find it is to small.<br>

I DROVE TWO 4200 HST'S AND WHEN MAKING BRAKE ASSITED TURNS AT MODERATE RPM'S, THE MACHINE BOGGED DOWN SEVERELY. THERE WERE NO ATTACHMENTS ON EITHER OF THESE TRACTORS. <br>IT WAS ALSO HARD TO SWITCH BETWEEN RANGES. <br>I ALSO DROVE A 4300 SYNC REVESER WHICH WAS ALSO VERY HARD TO SHIFT BETWEEN RANGES OR MAIN GEARS. I THOUGHT THAT MY INEXPERIANCE WITH THIS NEW LINE COULD BE TO BLAME SO I HAD THE SALES PERSON GIVE IT A TRY. HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I COULD DESRCIBE THE FEEL AS RUBBERY AS APOSED TO THE OLDER MODELS SUCH AS THE 770 WHICH FELT VERY CERTAIN. I DID NOT HAVE ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE KUBOTA.<br>I WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT ANY OF THE OLDER JD MODELS BUT I JUST DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE NEW ONES.<br>I NOW HAVE A NEW 3710 HST AND LOVE IT. I MOW 12.5 ACES WITH NO PROBLEMS.

I AM INTERESTED IN BUYING A NEW TC33D. WHEN I WENT TO TEST DRIVE THE UNIT, IT SMOKED MILDLY FOR THE ENTIRE FIFTEEN MINUTES I DROVE IT (I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS WITH DEERE OR KUBOTA). NOTE THIS WAS AT 2000 RPM'S, ALTHOUGH IT SMOKED AT ALL ENG. SPEEDS. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT IT HE QUICKLY SAID IT WILL DEMINISH DURING BREAKIN AND THEN HE CHANGED THE SUBJECT. <br> FROM READING OTHER POSTS ABOUT THE 1925'S AND THEIR SMOKING PROBLEMS AND ASSOCIATED DEALER SERVICE PROBLEMS, I AM WORRIED. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE TC SERIES HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE OLDER BOOMER SERIES. ARE THERE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE TC'S. HAS NH CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPROVED?<br>I REALLY LIKE THIS TRACTOR. Dave,<br>I follow what your telling me. I'm hoping a linkage adjustment will lessen the force now required to move my tractor. I like the Kubota solution you mention. Maybe JD will produce a retrofit.....?<br>Thanks,<br>Lou
