I am located in south-central Michigan and purchased the same mower, with my NH TC18 tractor last summer for $1,300 without a rear guard. I recently purchased the rear chain guard from the same dealer for $79. I don't know what a good used price would be for you though, sorry. Just wanted to let you know that they can be bought at other prices, but maybe not in your area. Have you checked with the place you're buying the larger mower from, will they give you a decent trade in...you never know.

Don't know how you could do pricewise but have you looked at the NH TC18 or TC21? I have owned a TC18 for a little over a year now and it is a real workhorse for the size. I was at our county fair in Marshall, Michigan yesterday and looked closely at the Kubota BX2200 and B7500 at a Kubota dealer's display there. Kubota has a great reputation and is undeniably a good company. That said, I noticed on the B7500 that the rear end is built much lighter than my TC18. One point in particular was the 3 pt. lift arms, they look so much smaller than those on the TC18.

If you're still in "shopping mode" you might want to just go look to see for yourself. Another point, I climbed up on the B7500 (Yes, Bird, I actually sat on a Kubota, when I got on my TC in the evening, I think it could smell the Kubota!) The seating area, leg room, and comfort for me was not near as good as my TC18. I'm about 6' 1" and 235 lbs. so I noticed the difference, you may not.

I looked at an L3000DT and that rear end looked stronger, closer to my TC18.

If it's like my NH TC18, you just keep tightening up the sway controls until
it doesn't sway at all or not very much. I had to get the hang of this too when I first got my tractor, the 3 pt. mower would move on turns and I got marks on my tires - no damage though. I did look at a used JD that had gouges ou of its tires from rubbing though.

Do you know how long your neighbor had the calcium in his tires?

I don't have any kind of weight in my tires, but my salesman said that new wheels were close to the same price of the cost of labor and cost of tubes combined. He recommends putting the calcium right into a tubeless tire because of this. I didn't look into it further, but if I ever need more rear weight I might have to since the TC18 turf wheel doesn't accept wheel weights.

My neighbor had a Ford 8N with calcium in the rear wheels for a LONG time and it was just showing that he might need to think about rear wheels when he sold it.

I own a TC18 and my manual said to change filters only at 50 hours, I don't change the transmission oil until 300 hours. At 50 hours, as expected, the fluid smelled like new. I also found no chavings in either filter, I cut them open to see.

If you have a good New Holland dealer near you, I recommend you go look at the TC18, 18.5 hp compact diesel tractor. I have owned one for about a year and it is awesome! The BX is a SUB-compact! You should be able to get the TC for less dollars than a larger B series Kubota and the quality is there in both units.

Just do yourself a favor and go look, heck, shopping is half the fun! Drive everything you can and get demos at your property if available. There are several good tractors on the market and you should look at all of them.

After careful reading, here is what the brochure lists.
The TC25 is rated for a New Holland 951B 72" Rotary Cutter.
Since my dealer is long distance, I'll leave it up to someone else to call a New Holland dealer and find out what a 951B is, duty rating, cutting ability.

I just did the 50 hr. on my TC18 in the last couple of weeks. I figure you have an operators manual, read it carefully, follow step by step it explains what to do to change the filter and how to bleed the system. Read it over real good, set it beside you and follow step by step. I had zero problem with mine.

You said in your 1st post that you were looking for something to maintain and landscape your 2 acre lawn. No offense, and it is your money, but don't you think that even the 4200 was overkill for this task? How nice of a lawn do you want, are you going to mow with this? The heavier the machine, the tougher it can be on you lawn. Just throwing another point of view at you. If you have a good dealer near you, don't hesitate to look at New Holland. JimBinMI

I purchased a NH TC18 last June and bought a Woods RD6000, 60" 3 pt. finishing mower with it. I had previously mowed with a 16 hp garden tractor with a 48" belly mower. I wasn't sure about it at first but liked the idea of easy off and on to use other implements. My dealer also helped by offering full refund for exchange for a belly mower if I didn't like it. I only used it about 4-5 times last year but I really like it, took some getting used to but it does a great job. Haven't wiped out any small trees or hit any buildings with it...yet! In addition, price was about $400 less than the belly mower. Good Luck, JimBinMI

I own a TC18 which has 18.5 hp, and I use a Woods RD6000 on relatively flat land to mow about 3 acres. The TC18 is not rated for a 5' rear mower but
the dealer said it could handle it and it does a great job, with added weights
on the front (I don't have a loader). Your TC21 is rated for a 5' rear mower
in the brochures and I believe it should handle it great...don't know though
how hilly you are. The Woods is a real quality unit and weighs in considerably
higher than the Landpride 1560, the Woods weighs 605 lbs. with the chain shielding, closer to the weight of the one the other guy started with. Also, I
mow in high range all the time and have no problem. In addition, if your TC21
is a gear tractor, you have 1 more hp at the 3 pt. than the TC21D.

When I was shopping I had a Kubota/New Holland dealer tell me that it took
more force to depress the New Holland hydro pedal than the Kubota hydro pedal.
I ended up buying a TC18 from a different New Holland dealer and have not
experienced any foot or leg fatigue. I've spent several hours at a time doing
spreading/leveling of fill sand for the foundation of my pole barn this summer
never noticed any problems. I would buy this tractor again. JimBinMI

I don't know of any website either but I own a New Holland TC18 and love it!
I have a great dealer and I got a great price here in south central Michigan.
I paid $9,200 for hydro 4x4 without power steering (add about 700 for power steering) I don't have a loader and don't plan to get one. Keep in mind that the TC18 has 1.5 more hp and 1 more hp at the 3 pt. As per the brochures, I have both, the TC has higher total hydraulic pump flow and is rated to lift about 250 more pounds at 24" behind the 3 pt. Folding rops is standard on the hydro also. This machine is a worker, I had a pole barn built this summer and did most of the fill sand grading/moving with this tractor using a rear rake and back blade and it was amazing how much it would handle. Haven't moved snow yet but hope to soon. I have about 45 hours on it and would do it all over again. The dealer is very important, so check them out too. Good luck, Jim

I have a TC18 Hydro and it does a great job pulling a 3 pt. 5' rear discharge Woods finish mower. The only problem was the weight on the rear and I mainly solved that with front weights, I don't have a front end loader. If my TC18 can handle it, then I know the TC21 will. I have about 40+ hours on mine and I couldn't have made a better choice in a tractor, Dealer, value, quality! This is one rugged little tractor, I can't wait for snow to fly to see how it handles that, don't know yet if I'll need chains or not. Jim

MLS, <br>Why is it obvious that the NH TC21 was lagging behind...was it just because of the dealer? I own a TC18 and my machine stats out better than the 4100 and the B2100 in some areas. I was also able to find a great dealer and a great price. Please give more info, I'm sure it's not obvious to other NH owners as well as other readers of this board.

I agree Rodney, I recently bought a TC18 and I wasn't color shopping. I just found in Southern Michigan that I could buy a TC18 for less than a B1700 or a B7300. More HP for less $. I love it and I too don't have a smoking problem, neither does the tractor. One point of comparison that I found interesting is the 3 - pt. lift capacity at 24

TC18 - 1265 lbs.
JD4100 - 930 lbs.
B7300 - 860 lbs.
B1700,2100,2400 - 1015 lbs.
This to me is an indication of strength of the entire unit and it impressed me. It also didn't hurt that when I bought New Holland Credit was offering one year same as cash! "> TC33 SMOKING AT TIME OF TEST DRIVE

I just bought a New Holland TC18 Boomer last week and got one year same as cash financing. No interest, no payment, no money down...but a year from now it is due. Just thought I'd let you know. This is through New Holland Credit. I love this tractor, my first compact! In my area, south-central Michigan I was able to buy it for less than a B1700, so I went for more tractor for less $.<br>Good Luck, Jim.

My dealer has one on his lot right now. Asking $10,900 for tractor only. It is at Bates Ford Tractor in Coldwater, MI (517) 279-9179 Ask for Mark Mohney. I believe that the tractor has about 150 hrs. on it and was bought back from a guy that got a divorce. Mark said there is nothing wrong with it. Good Luck, Jim
