Hi,

I built a cad plans backhoe stand alone, not tractor mounted, but with quite a few mods, as my ground gets rock hard in the summer, and I think that the cad plan just is not tough enough. The other problem that I found with it was that it would lift off the ground and run back rather than dig, so I built an anchor under it to stop this happening, which works very well.
If you are a bit of a handyman, it is not very difficult to build, and bending 5 mm steel sheet for the bucket is no problem with a blow torch to heat it up a but, not even red hot.

Stand alone is much better, as you then have the tractor for loading the spoil, and my Kubota B1600 back bucket will hold about a 1/3 of the cubic mtr, about 7 buckets full. I am really pleased with the backhoe, it cost me about $700 and a lot of hard work, all second hand materials, and an old car engine to power it. Weight is not a problem with these machines.

Now I want to build a front loader for the tractor and advice. Would be gratefully received.

I'm looking for a used plow or blower for my JD 345. Does anyone know how well a blade will work on this tractor. I am planning on buying chains but still seems like it will be a little light and has no diff lock?

Hello all!! I posted a message yday asking about the JD4100 vs Kubota B2100. I thank everyone for the insightful info given, very helpful!! In the post I also inquired about the NH TC21. Got a lot of responses about the JD and Kubota, but not much about the New Holland. I've searched the archives, but don't see much about the TC21. Can anyone give any opinions or experiences w/ this particular model? Also dad is looking at a used either Ford or New Holland 1520. Found info about some bigger sizes, but not much on this particular model. Again any opinions or experiences would be much appreciated! If you have questions about the what he's will be using the tractor for or about the used 1520, I posted all that on my previous posting titled

Hello! I'm helping my dad decide on a new tractor. Honestly I really no nothing about tractors, but dad knows nothing about internet! He is currently considering the Kubota B2100, JD 4100, New Holland TC21, and also a used '95 Ford 1520. Here's the situation, he's got 5 acres of land to mow and a quarter mile drive to plow in the winter. Would like to know which would probably work best for the price. The Ford has 430hrs on it, a front loader, and a grater box. Asking $12500, is that a reasonable price? He would have to put a mid mount mower deck on the Ford as well. I see lots of knowledgable people on this board and would appreciate any input you can provide. <br>Thanks for all your help!!
